So far today, apart from first thing this morning, I've had no connection slowdowns on this forum, so maybe things are now sorted

This morning when I went shopping at M&S there was a small queue at the checkout. The elderly woman was a bit impatient and when she got to the cashier she had a moan at her for no good reason. The cashier mentioned to her that she could have gone to the express checkout as she only had a few items to pay for.

Amazingly enough, the elderly woman proceeded to take the things she was going to pay for, put them in her trolley, and went away to the express checkout.

The cashier and I just looked at each other in amazement and I said I'd never seen anything like that. I know the cashier well and we had a brief chat about the woman. The cashier zapped my purchases, I put them in my carrier bags, and then paid. I said to the cashier I would keep an eye out for the woman on my way out. I did and saw the woman who was still in the express queue, so I went back and told the cashier. That cheered up the cashier

Good morning everyone

Another sunny and warm day here. Squiggle, I hope the humidity forecast in your area doesn't get too bad.

No problems in getting on this thread this morning As squiggle says, we mayn't need a new home after all.

Happy Pentecost/Whit Sunday to you all . No bank holiday tomorrow though because of the Jubilee next weekend.

Good morning everyone, it's cooler here today so I hope there won't be any problems with humidity.  I hope it isn't humid for you either EL, or anyone else.  I love it when it's warm and sunny but hate the humidity.

Off to church soon for our Pentecost Sunday service, the coming of the Holy Spirit, enjoy your day and hope the sun shines on you.

Good afternoon it started misty here but is now a very sunny, hot day Happy whit Sunday to you all I've just completed the stitching on my cushion project and am ready to sew the back & front together the problem is.. My sewing machine is in a cupboard in our bedroom and mr summer is having a nap (he has flu)! I'm going to bake cookies while I wait, miss bramble is snoozing on the sofa, it's very peaceful here today for you all x
~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, I'm sorry to hear Mr Summer is down with flu. It's strange how there seem to be so many bugs around in late May when it's warm. There are still people at our church who have got bugs besides lots of others.

Pentecost/Whit Sunday signifies when the Holy Spirit came - From Acts 2:

1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

In the service at church a bowl of meths was lit rather like this:

From the flames the vicar lit a taper and used that to light small candles which everyone had for the last part of the service which was carried out near the font.

I was the fire warden and my job, after everyone else had turned towards the font, was to very carefully place a metal sheet slowly over the bowl to extinguish the flames. I succeded in this without mishap which is just as well as it was have been a disaster if I had knocked the bowl over.

Hi everyone

There was a nice Pentecostal service on TV this morning, from Brighton i think. Very uplifting.

Had a lovely day yesterday, was very hot but we went down to Musselburgh, a small town just on the outskirts. We spent some time on the beach and around the harbour. it was a bit cooler there. Then we had some lovely ice cream from a very famous shop there, the queue was very long but worth the wait. My son and daughter had irn bru flavour, which i thought would be yucky but it was surprisingly nice and refreshing. Granddaughter had chocolate and got herself in a right old mess! Then fish and chip teas in a local restaurant. Was glad to get home tho, the heat makes me feel so tired. Not going out in the heat today, i think it is hotter than it was yesterday. Granddaughter out with nana, covered head to foot in factor 50!

Sorry to hear Mr Summer not well, Summer x

Dont seem to be having any problems today on here, but if it acts up again i like the B&B theme

Good afternoon everyone. It's another sunny day up here.

Summer, I hope Mr Summer gets well soon.

Skylark, sounds like you all had a lovely day yesterday.

I managed to catch up on the ironing this morning and did some housework. I ought to go out and finish the weeding now but it's so hot, I think I might wait until it's cooler this evening.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Yes its a bit too hot for weeding, you will exhaust yourself.

Been stripping the beds and giving the towels a good old boil wash.  Nice to get everything out on the washing line
Lazy lump of a dog is lying snoring, yes snoring! She isnt moving far today as there is a chicken cooking

They're not daft are they?

Glad you got up to date with the ironing Yogi, the weeding will wait.

Summer I hope Mr Summer feels better soon.

When I dropped Keira off at my mum and dad's last week, my mum was putting a spoonful of mince into Keira's dried dog food and said "I'll get her some nice chicken for tomorrow". I told mum that she didn't need extras adding to her food but she replied "Och, she's on her holidays, she deserves a bit of spoiling". Guess who has been turning her nose up at her dried dog food since she came home.

That's it exactly! Don't worry, she'll soon get used to it again (although I did cut up a wee sausage and put it in with her breakfast this morning).

You are making me feel much better about falling for the puppy dog eyes.

Got to go for now, son and DiL have arrived for a visit. See you later.

Although Cheltenham had plenty of chances they were unable to score and lost to Crewe 0-2 so they will stay in Division 2. I think they would have really struggled in Division 1 if they had been promoted. Crewe's star player is Nick Powell who scored the first goal. He's 18 and is likely to move to the Premier league sooner or later. He has been a member of the England Under 18 team, so is likely to move up.
