Ah, so is he running to catch up with it then? Maybe has to put it in first gear?

Going to do a 'click and collect' from Tesco. Getting son Call of Duty for Xbox. Any ideas for a good movie DVD? He likes an action packed thing. Plus he likes stand up comedy, a bit off the wall, but not Frankie Boyle  Somebody like Peter Kaye or the like. Any suggestions? Thanks. I have been throwing hints at him, but nothing clear!!

He nearly 20 x

Youngest son was on the phone and he suggests Greg Davis or Kevin Bridges, but he doesn't think Kevin has released a new dvd this year.

He said if you go on HMV website and go into the New Releases section, you might get some other ideas.

Skylark, I doubt if I would be of much help in suggesting a good action movie DVD for a near 20 year old as my idea of a good action movie would be something like Guns of Navorone (1961) which would seem boring to many young men nowadays. I play computer games but nothing remotely as violent as Call of Duty. Squiggle may have a better idea as she has bought games for her grandsons.

Again, I'm no use on suggesting stand up comedians as there are very few of the modern ones I can stand. The only off the wall one I do find amusing is Bill Bailey.

I think they are moonie, they were in use in Ilford 20 years ago or more.  But the posture thing is still the same, the angle of his back means he is storing up trouble for himself whether he is pushing hard or just lightly.  My hubby used to be a postie himself, and indeed trained young postmen and women, and they are taught how to lift and how to protect their backs, the postman in the picture has forgotten what he was taught.

Movelat has a slight smell but nothing compared to Ralgex I would think.

El, Call of Duty not my idea of fun either to be honest, but a sign of the times. It just has to be keeping up with his peers, i think. He isnt aggressive by nature and understands its not real, as such. I still dont like it myself, but...
He does enjoy movies of all ages though, so thanks for that xx

Plus i like Bill Bailey too, not sure if my son knows his work too well though.

At least it wasn't Fairytale of New York

I prefer this one myself

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin , mother and child
Holy infant so, tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake, at the sight
Glory streams from heaven afar
Heavenly, hosts sings Hallelujah.
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at thy birth,
Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

Well done on a productive and dry day.

Hubby bought me Voltarol ointment and it seems to have helped a bit.

Mr Yogi knows better than to bring me the stinky stuff.

Beautiful clip, El, very moving.

Sung by my local cathedral choir, the words were written by Christina Rossetti (sister of the artist), and the music was composed by Gustav Holst who lived in Cheltenham.

Simply beautiful EL The church setting makes it more special and the choir and congregation together give it a rich depth.

I love all Christmas music from dear old Bing, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Nat King Cole The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) through to Wizzard 'I wish it could be Christmas every day'.  My hubby's personal favourite was The Christmas Alphabet by Dickie Valentine which he used to sing every Christmas.  We play it every Christmas and think of him.  But of course the carols are very special aren't they?
