Anyone seen my slippers?

I've not seen them, EC. Have you lost them?

Hi Yogi  Yes I have. I will pop over to the Spa and see if they are there. If you find them give me a shout. Hope you are well.

lol I'll give you a shout if I see them lying around.

I'm good thanks, and hope you are too?

Good morning everyone

Some sunshine and cloud here, forecast to cloud over with rain later. Not warm outside but more likely to be rain rather than snow.

Yogi, I hope your holiday continues to go well

I hope everyone has a good day and that those in the areas with snow today and tonight aren't inconvenienced by the white stuff.

The manager of Forest Green (Cheltenham's rivals for much of the season) was sacked yesterday with one match left of the main season and before the play offs. They haven't won since 12 March.

What a time to sack a manager after all he has done for them

Okay, he didn't get them automatic promotion but they are still in the playoff mix, aren't they El?

It would serve the owners right if they didn't get promotion now

Its not like they are relegated or even close to it

No loyalty in football anymore

Moonie, Forest Green are guaranteed a play in the play offs and I was a bit surprised by the announcement that the manager had been sacked. The assistant manager and the fitness coach have left so the team is being managed for the rest of the season by their Academy manager. Saturday's match is against Dover which is another side likely to get into the play offs.

Good morning everyone, plenty of blue sky and a few clouds, a bit nippy though.  That sounds like a very simplistic answer to why some people look younger than others I think EL.  What do you think?  I know Joan Collins is blessed with good bone structure but I also know that she is a big fan of keeping the skin moisturised, as am I.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, that is a beautiful picture. Thank you

As you say that article is a bit simplistic. My parents looked 10 years younger than they really were, my brother and I also look younger than our true age. My hair was very dark brown, near black, though greying now, and much the same with my family. None of us had pale skin. So that article doesn't account for us.

In a while I'm seeing that client where I've been doing some work for her this week to go through my findings. I have identified the causes, partially a mistake she appears to have made and partially something which she has not realised.

Seen my client. Her mother is in a care home and has to contribute some of the cost, the council pay the rest. Client looks after her bank account and the balance had gone down and she didn't know why. Without going into details she was not aware that in England if her mother had savings of between ÂĢ14,250 and ÂĢ23,250 you have to pay over your income plus ÂĢ1 per week for every ÂĢ250 excess over ÂĢ14,250. (You are allowed a small deduction for incidental expenses). So that could mean ÂĢ36 per week going out each week as a drain on the bank balance.

She said she would question that with the local council but that's national policy across England.

That's a very nice owl mug squiggle, I love it

As you say, it is a rather mean policy. It was stated in the letter my client got from the council but she hadn't understood what it meant until I explained it to her. It looks as if it gets reassessed each year. My client has received a form for this but hasn't completed it yet so I suggested that she complete it ASAP. I don't know what the form looks like but I assume that she needs to show what the bank balance is now as the lower the balance the less that will get deducted.

I see in the papers today that there's mention of some US researcher finding that it you continue to work past retirement age for a year your life expectancy is increased by 11%. Research doesn't cover what happens if you work more than one year so don't assume that expectancy is increased by 55% if you work 5 years past retirement

Good morning everyone

Sunny here at present though forecast to cloud over and showers possible later. Temperatures seem to recover some time next week.

This news item about Microsoft could develop into a huge battle in the courts between them and Google. The European Commission may not be happy either as the EC does target the likes of Microsoft where it thinks competition is being stifled and takes offenders to court. And much the same in the States with its anti-trust laws.

Worth watching out for developments as this has the potential to be really big.

I hope everyone has a good day

Squiggle, Microsoft are restricting the search facility in the Cortana assistant part of Windows 10 to Bing, its own search engine. Google are far from happy about this. If you don't use the Cortana assistant then you can use other search engines other than Bing. It's not likely to hit the main headlines yet, but in terms of IT news, it's big news.
