Wonderful commentary and chat (and refreshments) in here today as usual!

But... Blimey! Todays cross-examination was like watching a slow-mo train crash!

I've just chatted to a mate of mine and she remarked it was also like something from a Keystone Cops film!

And yeah, the comment from Roux to the judge at the end about 'ducking and diving today' was almost like a surrender. What with getting dissed by Oscar and today's shambles he must have seen the writing on the toilet door before the cleaners wipe it off!

The only place I have seen anyone defending Roger Dixon's testimony was over at the other place by two of three posters..and to be honest their arguments are a bit contradictory...having about the same impact that Roger Dixon had. Most of the legal experts reckon his testimony should/will be thrown out.

Apparently rumour as it the Roux does have a ballistic expert and a audio expert on his list, I'm doubting this because he had Dixon testify on these subjects knowing that he wasn't qualified,

If these are the expert witnesses that OP was waffling on about when he took the stand, I think he's in for a bit of a shock...2-0 to Nel at the moment.

I was cringing in the end Yogi, it was that bad

Which is why I'm going to avoid it.

I also read that Nel was in his patronising/sarcastic/arrogant mode, and that would make me want to punch the screen.

BBC Twitter guy did reply to someone that there is a ballistics expert who is expected to be called and Dixon was meant to give 'an overview'. Whatever that is.

Dixon didn't give an overview he gave a full blown explanation...I don't know what Roux is playing at, because if the ballistic guy is called and states the same thing as Dixon it will appear that they are tailoring evidence Yogi. The poor guy was way out of his depth and giving evidence far beyond his field of expertise

I got that impression from the tweets.

Nel set bear-traps all over Dixon's testimony that he fell into. It was a forensic destruction of the defence evidence so far imo.

It was  the more he was trying to convince Nel, the more hand gestures he was doing. He kept saying I'm not an expert in this field...well WTF were you doing in the dock apart from getting paid for not doing a proper job

I fear he'll get away with a lighter charge.

The judge is not known for being soft in cases which involve abuse of women. Don't mistake her quiet voice for a weak character. Have you seen some of those looks she gives out when someone misbehaves in court? She's a strong woman.

I think the judge has been trying to ensure that Oscar can't claim he didn't get a fair trial and that's why she ensures he is well enough to continue his testimony.

As far as the verdict is concerned, she will give her judgement on the evidence presented in court. If the state don't present enough evidence to convince her that Oscar is guilty of premeditated murder then he won't be found guilty. Imo ,the state haven't proven premeditated murder, but a guilty verdict to Culpable Homicide wouldn't surprise me.

I really have to disagree with you on that, the lies he told about why he did what he did that night proves it was murder alone, Herry Nel ripped him to shreds in the witness box...the guy murdered her in cold blood IMO.

I fear Reeva's family will be lucky to get that .

I smell an OJ  result.

Oh no... you think its heading that way Erin?

Let's just say I will be more surprised if he is found guilty and not surprised in the least if he gets off.

Im telling you, the judge is weak on him, I fear she might be a fan.

Theres seeming to be fair, and then being protective of him, which she has certainly been with OP.

For me if he doesn't get sent down with a premeditated murder verdict AND NOTHING LESS then that judge hasn't done her job.
