Severn Trent has sent me a letter it's repair & maintenance work outside the house which had some attempted work a couple of weeks ago (which I assume didn't work), It's a larger scale job that the previous one and they will be putting up barriers which might prevent access to my house and others - expected to be from Wednesday ro Friday next week.

I love that word El

It's a real word, based on Carl Linnaeus who in 1758 categorised the species as Cervus camelopardalis. People originally thought that it was a cross between a camel and a leopard, obviously biologically impossible, but that's where the word came from.

I just had a look El. It’s going to be a long, long summer

And rain isn't going to affect the outcome of this match.  There's something on with the pitch though as I reckon 21 wickets have fallen in the last 24 hours

And now a literay poser. Here's a short list of partial titles of novels. They exclude the part of the title which would give it away. The dots just show there's a missing section and don't indicate how long that section is

"The Posthumous Papers...."
"....or the Parish Boy's Progress"
".... A Tale of the Riots of 'Eighty"
"...................the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery"
"....for These Times"

Who wrote these novels?

I posted this a couple of days ago. Answers:
"The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club"
"Oliver Twist, or the Parish Boy's Progress"
"Barnaby Rudge, A Tale of the Riots of 'Eighty"
"The Personal History, Adventures, Experience and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery"
"Hard Times: for These Times"
all written by Charles Dickens.

Good morning everyone

Sunny here and it's forecast to get to something between 27 and 29, a warm night, and much the same tomorrow, thought starting to cool down a bit tomorrow night.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a good dtime with the tiddlers

Ros, this part of the country has been with Severn Trent since it was formed in 1974, so the work being carried out here is repair work rather than anything else.

Moonie, I've read quite a lot of Dickens' writing over the years and seen many of the films and TV adaptations as well. Many people regard him as the greatest of the novelists of the Victorian era and his writing is still of relevance. (Jane Austen is just before the Victorian era, the Bronte sisters were of the Victorian era but their indvidual output very limited in number compared to Dickens, Oscar Wilde was of the Victorian era but best known for his plays, I think Dorian Grey his only novel).

I hope everyone has a good day

There's an advert I've seen recently on television which I think is the most painful one ever. I think there's 4 men side by side. The soundtrack cannot be comsidered as music as it seems to sound like dustbin lids being banged together combined with the screams of those in hell being tormented. I think it may be a pizza ad.

It's the only advert I've seen where I have to turn over, turn the sound down or leave the room. There should be a health warning given before the ad.

Evening all

El, I was going through hundreds and hundreds of photographs today, (mum was always taking pics ) and we found some real gems

Hubby and middle son were helping dad clear another bedroom - I think I got the easiest task today

Thanks for the heads up about the latest scam.  I want to throttle scammers.

I don’t think I’ve seen that ad - sounds like one to avoid.

I hope you've all had a good day.

Good morning everyone

Sunny and another very warm day here.

Yogi, you were sort of doing what my brother does on a voluntary basis at his local heritage museum. Transferring and identifying thousands of local photographs taken over the decades for their website. Massive task with quite a lot of detective work which will help local historians in the future.

Summer, sounds as if you've got a good weekend

I hope everyone has a good day

El Loro

Good morning everyone

Weather is dry and sunny.

El, although it must be a huge task for your brother, I would enjoy going through all the photos.

Squiggle, it’s amazing how a single photo can conjure up so many memories of that particular time.

Summer, I hope you have a great time, out and about - and enjoy your PJ day tomorrow

I’m going to potter about in the garden this morning then we have family visiting in the afternoon.

Have a good day all.
