Glad you had a good time as usual with the wee ones Yogi. They'll be growing up fast  

Weather's cooler but the wasps are still around. Just tried to pick some plums but had to give up. I'll need to get up earlier tomorrow.

My box of staples has arrived and they fit so I can get back to stapling

Severn Trent has started their work today. So far they haven't dug up the road/pavement as far as my house so I still have access

92% humidity and 7 mm of rain here today. At least the rain is starting to ease and the humidity forecast to start decreasing during the night. Normally humidity tends to increase during the night which shows that it's been quite oppressive today.

Squiggle, I have struggled with the heat this summer so I’m actually looking forward to cooler weather.

Yogi, I did post a similar river football clip a year ago but this one was better. I think a lot of people have suffered with the heat and welcome cooler weather

For a protracted period of time I have been getting phone calls (about 1 a week) from people with Asian accents claiming to be from British Gas. They always want to speak to the manager or refer to me with my name followed by Chartered Accountants. That tells me that this is to do with my non-existent business tariff so I cut off the phone call pretty quickly and don't give them any information other than what they already know. Obviously I have residential tariffs with British Gas. The phone number which appears varies and never tallies with British Gas's phone numbers. I have told the callers previously that I live in a house and am on residential tariff. That is ignored by the callers.

Incidentally "chartered accountant" is the term for the qualification and is equvalent to doctor or teacher. "Chartered Accountants" is the term to show that I have a practising certificate and is equivalent to a surgery/medical practice or school.

For me to have a business tariff, the requirements would be that the energy usage was wholly or mainly business which is not the case for me. Also the local city council do not consider what I do as amounting to a business whereby I would have to pay business rates rather than council tax.

I have sent British Gas business an email setting out what has been going on for them to investigate. I've made it clear that it is to be regarded as a formal complaint, if it turns out (which I doubt) to be British Gas for them to stop what amounts to harassment.

I'll let you know what happens when they reply. I suspect the callers are suspect energy consultants trying to con small businesses into switching energy contracts. At this present moment in time Ofgem does not regulate such consultants targeting small businesses - clearly something needs to be done.

Forum seems to be running at a snail's pace at present, I guess they have a server problem after yesterday's maintenance. Just allow longer than normal and eventually posts get through.

It's a good old fashioned stinker here. A day for your bed and a good play. They are few and far between though and Radio4x shows where the BBC cutbacks started. Especially through the night. Still, middle management up are okay whilst the over 75's lose their free licence. BBC 1 during the day is desperate - totally Pointless. Rant over.

Someone who was getting pension credits would still get a free licence and that link has another link about pension credits and how to apply.

It's a fairly easy process though a lot of people are too embarrassed to claim.
