Our church organist sometimes plays music at the end of a service as a tribute to some well known person who has died. I mentioned to him that June Whitfield had died. He hadn't heard that news announced this morning and had intended to play the BBC Film programme theme music at the end.

So, during the sermon, he had a look on his phone for the theme music for Absolutely Fabulous. At the end of the service he started by playing that and then morphed the music into the Film theme music

fantastic/awesome-he must be very talented -the organ not the easiest to play

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and dry here.

Yogi, I hope you were able to sleep amd feel a bit better today

Ros. our church organist is talented. He also has a liking for amateur theatre

Summer, it wasn't the fault of my client. The pension provider should have sent the pension savings excess letter no later than 6 October, but only sent it on 12 December. Hence the last minute rush. Although I do returns online so have the deadline of 31 January, anyone who does it through the post has a deadline of 31 October. Hence the 6 October date.

I hope everyone has a good day

Deke Duncan of Stevenage has been running a radio station from his shed for the last 44 years with an audience of one - his wife.

But this evening as a special one-off he's been given a one hour slot on his local BBC radio station so will have a somewhat larger audience. 18.30 this evening.

Happy New Year to everyone

Mainly cloudy here though there's bits of blue sky attempting to get through. Forecast to become noticeably colder over night with frost expected tomorrow morning.

Around 8 pm last night there was a firework display close by, must have been in the open space about 200 metres away. I think they were using these:

The loudest fireworks legally allowed in the UK at 120 decibels. Loud enough to reverberate through the house.

I hope everyone has a good day

I had mentioned that my brother didn't come here for Christmas due to the non-existent railway service, He will come one weekend this month. It won't be next weekend even though the railway service has restarted. That's because of the time it would take.

A mere 8 hours

Good morning everyone and a Happy New Year to all.  Some blue sky this morning which makes a pleasant change. Why would the journey take so long EL?

Enjoy your day everyone

Squiggle, engineering works with buses replacing the trains for two sections of the route.

At this rate, the journey will in future years take days, Here's a clip from the Buster Keaton film "Our Hospitality".  It's part of his journey from New York to the Appalachians. It's set in the 1830s. It's an accurate reconstruction of Stephenson's Rocket and gives a feel for what such a journey would have been like. My favourite Buster Keaton film and an early "dramedy" film rather than a comedy film. To give you an idea as to what a dramedy film is one which you've seen in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Just been to the local Co-op for things like bread and milk. While I was there a man (I guess in his 20s) suddenly put a tube of toothpaste in my basket, I handed it back to him saying I didn't want it. He then realised that I wasn't his girl friend who was standing a few yards away

He should have gone to S...S.....

Cheltenham Town have been having a better time over the past few weeks. They had been in a bit of trouble at the bottom of league 2 but since the beginning of December they've improved. A decent win away against Yeovil this afternoon (1-4) gives them an 8 point gap over the bottom 2 clubs.

Good morning everyone

Sunny, cold and frosty here. Forecast to remain cold until Saturday.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a good day with the family

In order to make train journeys even longer, British Rail could reintroduce the Locomotive Act of 1865. That restricted the speed of locomotives to a maximum of 4 mph. It was also known as the Red Flag Act - someone had to walk in front of the train waving a red flag as a warning. The act also applied to road vehicles so reintroducing the act would have quite an impact

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning a wonderful sleep last night, it must have been the walk we did and i’m waking to a cloudy, overcast looking day. I’m glad we made the most of the beautiful weather yesterday

I hope you all slept well too, what are your plans for today?

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

It’s a frosty morning - I like frosty mornings.

I’ve been putting out lots of seed, lard balls and mealworms for the birds.

No definite plans for today, Summer. What are your plans?

lol El, a 4MPH speed limit might cause a few problems

Have a good day, all.
