If you'd all like to book your cookery courses at Betty's, I'll volunteer as chief food taster.

I visited my mum and dad this afternoon and my dad asked me to go outside with him so he could feed a blackbird. Unlike the rest of the wild birds, this particular blackbird hops about outside the patio doors to tell my dad she wants fed, then she waits on the wall for him and he feeds her raisins, by hand. No wonder we nickname him "Dr Doolittle".

In case you hear about it on the news, there was some trouble in Gloucester yesterday night but not affecting me. The police arrested 9 of the troublemakers aged 16 to 40 and say that more arrests are likely. There were about 60 of the troublemakers, and I suspect that many of them would be known to the police. The main damage seems to have been torching the old Tech College which has been empty for 4 years and is in the process of being demolished.

Good morning everyone, it really is quite frightening the way so many people are jumping on this bandwagon isn't it?  Sorry that the violence came so close to you EL but glad that you are safe.  My grandson's father (he and my daughter weren't married) drove through London yesterday and told my eldest grandson that it was like driving through a war zone.  The violence in the area I used to live has even spread to the town where both my hubby and I grew up (Loughton) which is really ridiculous because I would describe it as a fairly sleepy town.

I really think we have reached the stage now where the youths are going to have to be organised in a positive way.  Perhaps through some sort of period of discipline training or public service.  We have to get them up in the morning and doing something useful with their lives.

Good morning everyone.

El, I saw on the news that there had been some trouble in Gloucester. Glad you are okay.

On Sky News this morning, they mentioned that out of the hundreds arrested in London so far, only a hundred or so have been charged and very few have actually been remanded to prison. So they could be back out on the streets tonight causing mayhem again.

No wonder we have a demoralised Police Service.

Hi Squiggle.  Bring him on, we need all the help we can get.

At least a man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life in connection with that furniture store which was burned down.

And separately from that, this on the BBC website a few minutes ago:

BBC reporter at Highbury Magistrates Court John Brain tells BBC 5 live the first person who appeared in the dock this morning was a 31-year-old teacher called Alexis Bailey. She pleaded guilty to being part of the looting of the Richer Sounds store in Croydon.

Hardly a kid.

It's nice that he cared, even if it was a very short journey.

Yes it was we need more people like that and less like the rioting yobs.  There were even some apologist parents mouthing off on the news
