Have a good day everyone.

Me too, well after church.  This week has been manic.  I hope PB is feeling much better this morning, poor little mite.

Very breezy here, with huge great clouds being blown across the sky, fairly mild for the time of year though.  I am at the stage I always am at this time of year I will be glad when all the leaves have gone and I can get the garden looking nice and tidy again.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone

Have you started decorating, Squiggle?

PB update: DiL sent a text a wee while ago to say that PB had slept well. Hopefully she is on the mend now.

I am glad PB slept well, the best thing to help her get over this bug.

I finished making the walls good a while ago but won't be starting any decorating until next year.

Just busy with housework and family things but just a busy busy time and I am feeling it this week.  Anyway I have run 2 ladies home and hope to be able to relax this afternoon. I hope you both can too

I recommend a nice cup of tea, a good book and feet up.

I agree that a good sleep will do PB the world of good.

It's noticeably more breezy here now than it was when I went to church. No rain though and fairly sunny.

It sounds as if we've been very busy over the last week or so and I hope you do get to relax today

I completed my really big client job on Tuesday. This year I sent my bill direct to the client rather than through the other firm of accountants who sign off the accounts. The last couple of years I didn't get paid by that firm until January time.

I got the cheque yesterday

Still quite busy through with other client work, but it won't be quite as manic as it has been.

 That's good news, El.

Yes the wind is getting up here too.  I am glad you were able to get the cheque through so quickly, a much better way for you to be paid.

I see that on the Movies for Men film channel tomorrow afternoon is a film called The Greed of William Hart. It's a 1948 film which is about a couple of body snatchers in Edinburgh sort of based on Burke and Hare. The film makers filmed it with those two names but were forced to re-record the film track to use different names.

The reason for mentioning it is that it starred Tod Slaughter. Although he made quite a few films they are very very rarely shown on television. He was possibly the ultimate in ham actors and is virtually unwatchable nowadays. So this isn't a recommendation unless you want to watch something truly dreadful.

I did find a clip, supposedly from the film, on Youtube. I think that it's bits from more than one Tod Slaughter film as some of it looks more like Sweeney Todd and he did make a film of him. The soundtrack is very definitely not from his films.

Here is a link to that clip:

You've never seen anything like it before and you probably won't again You have been warned.

I think I'll give it a miss, El.

I did see one of his films many years ago and it was so bad it's unlikely that I would want to see any more of him.

Can you buy some more stuffing locally?

My day has been good. Middle son and DiL popped in for a visit and then we went out for tea. No dessert or cakes.

Gaga was a bit slow to load for me, so if I disappear without saying goodnight, you'll know it's playing up for me.

Yogi, just don't bank your iron and you'll be fine

Squiggle I hope you have a calmer week ahead this week, you're a good friend for driving everyone around.
What's the latest news from your grandsons?

Thanks Summer, that's my plan The little chef is still working his socks off and the big news for my eldest grandson is that he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby boy in February, he is pleased as punch. It came as a bit of a shock to my daughter the thought of becoming a grandma, as you can imagine, and I am thrilled to become a great grandma.

Yogi do you listen to music or watch TV while you iron?  I quite enjoy it as long as I have something to occupy my mind whilst 'dashing away with the smoothing iron'  My darling sister bought me a fold-away sit-at ironing board for our engagement 51 years ago, which is still going strong.  You can't buy them nowadays.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

That's good going for an ironing board.

I can beat 51 years as the penknife I inherited from my grandfather which I use to open letters must be older. It was made by Richartz Bros & Sons. That was a German company who had a factory in Sheffield. It later changed its name to Richards and I assume that must gave been during WW2 so the knife must have been made at the latest during WW2.

Aww, what lovely news, Squiggle. Is your grandson excited about becoming a dad?

I usually watch something like Lewis while I iron, it helps to relieve the boredom.

Wow, that's a grand age for an ironing board! They made things to last in those days, whereas nowadays we are lucky if anything lasts more than three years.

It's great that you are still using it after such a long time. It must have been very well made.

Hello everyone
Hope you all had a good weekend. Sorry to read PB wasnt too well, Yogi, hope she is better now x
Congratulations to you and the family, squiggle x
Schools not back here, Summer, till tomorrow, some not till Wednesday. Granddaughter back tomorrow, thank goodness! We spent yesterday making Halloween decorations! Must remember to get a pumkin! She staying overnight with nana so have had a day catching up with stuff. Washing, washing , my son thinks he can wear jeans for a couple of hours then they get washed. I fold them up and put them back in the wardrobe
Hope the rest of you are well. Sending good wishes to moonie

FM

Skylark, sounds as if you had a nice say yesterday with making decorations There's no way in which I would think about washing jeans after only a couple of hours use unless somrthing had spilled on to them.

It's got rather dark here and there's some rain around. Gonzalo has yet to arrive though. Forecast for my area is wet night with 20 mph winds gusting up to 40,dryish morning from 8 to 11 with similar wind speeds, then noon to 5 pm heavy showers with gusts up to 48 mph. It's forecast to be worse elsewhere.

Hi Skylark.

PB seems to be a bit better, thanks.

lol at your son. My youngest was exactly the same until he moved out, he had more changes of clothes than a catwalk model and threw everything into the washing basket after wearing them for a couple of hours.

However, living with his GF has reprogrammed him.

It's not particularly windy here, El, but the sky is very dark and grey.
