After days of rain, the sun is now shining

About time you got some good weather too yogi 😉

Moonie

Good morning everyone

Dry and sunny weather

No problem Moonie, I’ve done the same thing too

After my housework is finished, I’m going to potter about in the garden.

Have a good day, all.

Good morning properly, everyone
Cold, yes cold, here overnight. I’m pleased to say we have blue sky and sunshine now though

We are expecting 22° today

I hope you all have a great Bank Holiday but as always, stay safe

I note that an antique British film "The Ghost Camera" (1933) is scheduled to be shown on Talking Pictures on Saturday at 6.40 in the morning.

IMDB trivia page says that this was Ida Lupino's film debut.

It was also a very early film of John Mills. Also of Felix Aylmer.

Good afternoon everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying a sunny Bank Holiday Monday.  I'm watching this at the moment and it 's fascinating.  The man who is the main speaker here is someone who has spent one of the longest times on the ISS, about a year I think.  I thought you especially would enjoy it EL but I would recommend it to all. He has many photos taken of Earth from space, quite amazing.

Thank you, gents

My patio cherry tree has quite a few cherries this year so I ordered some protective bags to keep the birds from eating them all. I put them on today so fingers crossed they do the trick 🤞🏻😄

This is really interesting squiggle and can understand how he felt  seeing all the world and its colours  beneath him- the whole space station experience is really fascinating -often watch it when it can be seen

Good morning everyone it's a beautiful morning, birds singing, sheep calling to each other and just a few wispy clouds in the sky.

Over the weekend I watched 'How Green Was My Valley'. I'm amazed I'd never watched it before, great film.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

More cloud here than yesterday but remaining warm.

Squiggle, I've seen "How Green Was My Valley" a couple of times. As you say, a great film and one of those films which were worthy winners of the Best Picture Oscar. John Ford also won the Oscar as Best Director. He also got Oscars for "The Informer" (1935), "The Grapes of Wrath" (1940) and "The Quiet Man" (1952), more than any other director so far.

I hope everyone has a good day

BBC Two are showing "The Magnificent Ambersons" (1942) this afternoon. That was Orson Welles' follow up film to "Citizen Kane". He's not in it but the lead is pkayed by Joseph Cotten who was in both. Film is just under 1½ hours long. It would have been about 50 minutes longer but RKO chopped out much of the second half and changed the ending whilst Welles was out of the country. The removed footage was destroyed. Film is still considered to be an exceptional film.

Good morning everyone

I thought I had posted hear after I had posted to Yogi. Seems I didn’t press ‘post reply’ again

It looks like it’s going to be another nice day here. Forecast high 22°. Currently sunshine with occasional cloud

I hope you all have a great day. Stay safe

I recognised someone in today's episode of Doctors. Liz Crowther, an actress rarely seen on television.

She was Sonia in Shoestring. Can be seen towards the end of this little clip:

Also Trevor Eve and Michael Medwin.

And right at the start, no prizes if you recognise the DJ. Only episode of Shoestring he was in and is the first credited role of his. Start of a major career in films and went on to become the only male actor to date to win three Oscars for best male actor.

A young Daniel Day Lewis. If I remember correctly, he has retired from acting nowadays.

I remember Liz Crowther (daughter of Leslie Crowther) from a series I liked, called “Watching“. If I’m thinking of the right person.

Yes, that's Daniel Day Lewis and he has retired from acting. One of the very few actors who if they retire or come back from retirement gets into the news.

Yes, Liz was in Watching, not something I ever saw.

So right on both
