I doubt if you've ever heard of the Patuxent Trough, the Foundation Trough or the Offset Rift Basin as they've only just been discovered:

I haven’t check your link El but is it something to do with the discoveries under one the polar ice caps?

Yes, you're right the Antarctic ice cap rather than the Arctic one.

I watch the news a lot El

The one is supposed to be as deep as the Grand Canyon , isn’t it?

The length and width is of the scale of the Grand Canyon so that could be the case for the depth - the article just says that they are deep.

There was a radio item this afternoon about the BBC weather app. A lot of people have been confused by the use of percentages of the chance of rain on an hour by hour basis. Someone from the MeteoGroup (who now provide the BBC forecasts) tried to explain this.

Say the forecast at 15.00 shows a 20% chance of rain.
Firstly it covers the hour leading up to 15.00 (so 14.01 to 15.00, not 15.00 to 15.59.

Secondly, the 20% does not mean that it will rain for 20% of the hour or 20% of the area covered by the weather station for the locality. What is means is that it you put a bowl out to collect any rain that at the end of the hour there's a 20% chance that there would be some rain (could be a teaspoon or several inches) in that bowl.

*night owls* πŸ¦‰ I hope everyone’s had a good day and enjoyed the rain as much as myself & Moonie my garden looks happy tonight.

After a 2 hour delay on the train, my mum has arrived! Bramble has already dumped me in favour of her lol

El, I can’t wait to look at that arctic discovery link, I love stuff like that! And I’ve set my sky box to record the movie you recommended yesterday

sweet dreams you lovely people

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Gloomy weather here, some rain possible this morning, som rain possible later in the afternoon, and then the possibility of thunderstorms late eveining and all day tomorrow with the greatest risk seems to be tomorrow un the late morning/early afternoon. The BBC forecast is worse than the Met Office one.

Summer, I hope you have a great time with your mum

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone

Dry here at present but the threat of thunderstorms today remains. I wasn't woken up by thunder during the night though I know there were some 15,000 bolts in the south during the night. I hope no-one here got struck by one

Summer, I hope you have a nuce day at the spa with your mum and cousins today. I go to a spa on a regular basis - the official name of Cheltenham is Cheltenham Spa

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone

The weather was cool, breezy and cloudy when I woke and now the sun is trying to break through.

No thunderstorms up here but I saw some videos of last night’s lightning on BBC breakfast.

Have a good day, all
