I considered putting this in the TV Thread, but felt it deserved one of its own.

For those who don't already know: the US Open Tennis Final between Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez is to be shown live on Channel 4 tonight (Saturday). BBC Radio 5 Live is also covering it.

Emma Raducanu: Channel 4 to show US Open final against Leylah Fernandez live - BBC Sport

The match starts at 9pm BST, with programming on C4 starting at 8pm. This will directly follow the F1 Qualifying Highlights on the same channel, and means that "Bettany Hughes's Treasures of the World" and "Deadpool" have been postponed.

BBC plans for a highlights show of the match tomorrow (Sunday) have now been dropped.

Not entirely related, but FYI: as the 5th Test Match between England and India has been cancelled, the 7pm "Today at the Test" programmes scheduled for tonight and tomorrow on BBC2 are to be replaced with Orangutans: The Great Ape Escape and Rick Stein's Long Weekends: Lisbon respectively.

I won't be watching the match, but wish Emma a good win, she has done amazingly well to get where she has....an inspiration indeed! Some highlights will no doubt be on the news somewhere.

Can't say I'm sad about the test match being cancelled (what a fiasco though), and will enjoy watching the Orangutans (little old men of the forest')....Thanks for the heads up Eugene

Me too, Baz. Last week's programme was about Malta and tonight's was going to be about Gibraltar - both places I know fairly well. I like Bettany anyway: saw her once live at the Edinburgh Book Festival.

I've looked ahead on C4's online Programme Guide and the Gibraltar show is already rescheduled for 8.30 to 9.30pm next Saturday. That may change, though: the plan was to show the film "Deadpool" tonight and "Deadpool 2" next Saturday, but although "Deadpool" has been cancelled, "Deadpool 2" is still scheduled. I don't know if movie rights mean they can't reschedule it at the drop of a hat?

Yes , Dame , Ros, Kaytee and I watched the Malta one too Eugene â€Ķ.and really enjoyed it . I really like Bettany too â€Ķ.I’ve watched several of her series â€Ķ.especially the Egyptian ones â€Ķ.although I have to say her cleavage can be a bit distracting at times . I hope they do show the Gibraltar one next week â€Ķ.like you , I’ve got a nodding acquaintance with there , and Malta .

Don't know that one Baz

Yeah: when the series started, I meant to do a heads-up for the "History Ladies" here, but I forgot...   You can still catch up on My4, etc. though...

It's called "Treasure's of the World", but so far has been restricted to the Med with programmes on Greece, Malta and Gibraltar. It's clearly been made under Covid travel restrictions, but that's sometimes worked to their advantage, with Bettany getting access to the ÄĶal Saflieni Hypogeum last week - something she said she'd wanted to visit all her professional life (it is open to the public, but you have to book months in advance...   ).
