I passed my Desk Top Publishing exam ...................and another one too. It was just a sort of answer sheet .............I didn't realise it was an exam - I simply waffled and embellished the answers as only I can and It was marked 'Excellent' ..........as was the DTP (modest looking face)- it was ridiculously easy I have to say.

Spread sheets next!

I found some books today on amazon which my father wrote way back before during and after WW2. They are very dry, boring stuff about taxation and economics, but some of it is still used in German taxation law and the books are used in unis. I started digging a bit more and suddenly he's staring back at me. I nearly fell off the couch. I haven't seen any photos or books for over 30 years when they burnt in a fire. I'm over the moon.

That's amazing Col! If you don't mind can you send me the link, I'm a big fan of economics (and economic history)....don't worry if they're in German, I can get a translation.

I don't know if this works suzybean. One is amazon and his books, the other one is a download file that doesn't work on my laptop. My dad is Jakob Eich. If you can find out more, I'd be a very happy person. I've scoured the web since 2006 for my dad because he was 'a person of interest' in a good way and finally stuff is being put on.

Cheers! The link works, I'll look in to it. I'll ask one of my old economics dons if he's heard of your dad. I have access to some databases that might bring up some results. Will let you know

Oh, and Jakob is a fine name, I have a father and a son called that, well Jacob with a C, but same difference x

It might be a long shot. The Adenauer link might help....did your father have anything to do with economic policy during his leadership?

This is the amazon link to his books. You can only get two from there and one might be more of a pamphlet, I'm not sure. When Adenauer was Chancellor, my dad was Gemeinderentmeister. The photo was taken in his study at home and he taught me to tell the time with the help of the grandfather clock just visible behind him.

Can you give me the translations for the terms you used and the book/essay titles? I can found them out, but it might be quicker to ask you.

I also noticed a longer form of his name, that might help locating sources and resources.

Edit - strike that last part...it's all the 'von's confusing...I'll need a translation for all the cover please.

It's in!!! It's in!!! We have to wait a while for things to dry before using it but ......I can't wait - it just looks so lovely.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay - i'm now waiting for the electrician to arrive - he rang to say he's been held up and I've got someone coming round to 'lend a hand' with the painting

All good in the hood at Chez Woo
