Well no, but that was because I didn't know about it until after it was all over.

How did I miss hearing about it in advance????

As a heads-up-up for anyone who didn't already know:

Another one is planned for tonight at 8pm.

It appears to be intended as a weekly thing,

Even more neighbours were applauding tonight

Ramp it up. Ramping up...yeah sure. The new catchphrase to convince us black is white. Black is black Johnson, Hancock, Gove et all. And all the six figure salaried clueless experts and advisors.

It's all jam the morra when we want jam today. And should have had it yesterday if anyone running this show had a clue what they're doing.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this is unforgiveable. And deeply tragic. Feck the economy!

I’ve got as much reason to fear this virus as everyone else - compromised immune system; husband with underlying heath condition; two sons and a DiL are key workers; and parents in their 80’s with health conditions.
I know we are in a terrifying situation - this is a new and deadly virus and, as yet, there is no definitive, correct way of dealing with it. Even the most eminent scientists in the field of flu and respiratory disease have given conflicting advice - and the advice will change as more things are learned. We are on a huge learning curve with this virus and mistakes will be made but that doesn’t mean that those in charge aren’t doing what they think is best.

I really hope people won’t use this tragic situation for political point scoring and government bashing - even opposition politicians aren’t doing that - as it would be contemptible, IMO.

Our borders are still not closed.

“The WHO criticized countries that implemented blanket travel bans, and Dr. Mike Ryan, director of the WHO's Health Emergencies Program, said during a Friday press conference that they will do "nothing to protect individual states." “

I, personally, would like to see our borders closed but what do you do when WHO says it will do nothing to protect individual states/countries.

The trouble is, who do we believe and what advice do we follow?
Professor Jonathan Van-Tam (one of England’s Depute Chief Medical Officers) “is an internationally recognised flu, vaccine and respiratory expert. During his 25-year career, he has advised the World Health Organization, the UK Government and The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control on influenza and other respiratory virus infections.”

I’m listening to him because I believe he probably knows what he is talking about...as much as any other “expert” does atm.
So much is unknown, we really are in the dark.

Wisteria Lane, Whatsitshire, a street with 27 residents has had 10 infections and 3 deaths. Meanwhile, round the corner in Maple Drive, a road with 372 residents, 367 infections have been recorded with 300 deaths. (All made up statistics!!!!)

I think even the bunch in charge would be wary of broadcasting statistics THAT specific!

God, that episode was painful watching.  Each contrived laughter detracting from the actual humourous impact of the quip.  They tried their best under the circumstances and I suppose you have to give them that, but it was more awkward to watch than laugh at.

Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests under medical advice.

He's still showing "persistent" symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive.

Downing Street are stressing it's not an emergency admission and he remains in charge of the government. It's not clear at the moment if he's staying in hospital overnight, though...

Yogi I am angry with the government for their handling of this crisis. I'm not political point scoring I'm comparing their strategy with that of South Korea who are the most successful country at dealing with this. They are through it now and for a population of 50 plus million to have a total death toll of 179 is clearly amazing and brilliant. My son is out there and is terrified for the UK as he has seen how slow to react we were, how poor the response has been regarding testing and protecting our frontline staff etc etc I don't want to go into it any more as it's too depressing. They have made a lot of disaterous mistakes.

I hope you and your family stay safe. I am upset and  angry because I care

Amythist

Amythist, my post was a plea - not an accusation - re political point scoring because, sadly, you don’t need to look too hard to find evidence of it.
As we have seen with Sweden, not every country is following the same strategy to deal with Corona virus but, I’m sure they are all doing what they think and hope is right for their country.

I know you care - as do I and I’m having sleepless nights with the worry of it alI.
I hope you and your family stay safe too.

He is not on a ventilator, and the line from Downing Street is that it's a precautionary measure in case he has to go onto ventilation. He is still conscious, but his condition has definitely worsened.

I didn't hear Jeremy Vine Machel but I'm aware of the information app and what it does. I think it must be enormously comforting to know where infected people have been and when the areas have been disinfected. Obviously the widespread and open armed testing facilities are integral to this. The objections were privacy related as people having affairs were outed and anyone being deceptive about their movements could be identified. I think the majority of people would accept that . I certainly would. No one was named but they were given a number

How many are intensive care or ICU's? How many are dead or dying?

Who's applauding for them?

I don't do token gestures.

Nor do I .....but each to their own .....if this situation is teaching me anything it’s that sweating the small stuff is a total waste of time and energy . Instead of getting our knickers in a twist about things that are outside our control , maybe we should be enjoying life , while we can?

Totally agree Baz....this thing is above politicking and ire should be directed at the morons not obeying the rules and so prolonging the agony of lockdown for longer

You're correct. My knickers were in a twist.

This is small stuff

VD

Me...I'm still like WTF clap for Boris and I'm not getting my knickers in a twist over it, I am getting my knickers in a twist of how it was handled and to me that isn't small stuff. A  nurse my daughter works with was confirmed today....thanks for all the masks, gowns, visors and ventilators you had weeks in advance to order and didn't bother doing. It's that kinda of stuff that pisses me off and I'm not going to clap the person in charge...like I said, I wish him a speedy recovery.

I'm not politicising it, I am stating fact........

That’s really good news. His family must be so relieved.

I'm not buying that excuse of delivering medication.

He had to drive 40 miles? No other way to get the stuff to his parents?

Most communities and local pharmacies have set up a help system for such things as getting food and medicine to people who can't leave their homes.

Yesterday our neighbour entertained her daughter with lunch in the garden

Today our other neighbour have a group of visitors around and are chatting in their garden

Both are in their 80's with significant health problems and are deliberately flouting the guidance

While i've not left the house in nearly a month

So much want to report them

Remember when they mocked Diane Abbott when she was ill for days...I give you Priti evil Babbage .....

Every day is groundhog day with these briefings Dame. She failed to address the more extreme behaviour of certain forces down South for one. And that behaviour is a worry.

Hancock is just rinse repeat. Staggering we're all watching this very real epic disaster unfold in what seems like slow motion. Clueless. Telling medics how to use their PPE - those that have it. That took the biscuit and is the wrong advice if cross contamination is of any concern. It looks like in Matthew's eyes it's not. And he's got "leading experts" on either side of him when he says it. We are in deep shit.

It depends on which day and at what time, it also makes a difference if you opt for a one hour slot rather than a four hour slot, charges can be from £1 to £6.50 from my local Tesco

Velvet, it's totally beyond belief...I really have to be careful what I say because I am so so angry.

Every time they open their mouths it's easily proven lies, just one after the other. I'm sure they think we are all idiots and don't look up these facts, every lie that comes out of their mouth I despise them a little bit more...Never mind, I'll just sing Land of Hope and Glory and all will be fine.... stay safe everyone, that's the best we can do for now.
