I was sent to elocution lessons to * learn to speak propa* ....I can still do it ( my telephone /lecturing voice , but my mum would go mad if she could here me dropping my aitches, and shortening words nowadays
I was sent for electrocution lessons to get rid of my Irish accent as it meant you were liable to get your head kicked in for being Irish due to the pub bombings here. I do a rather good version of 'How now brrrrrrown cow' I can roll my Rs
