I'm amazed at this, all the cats I've known hate the snow

 

Squiggle. I like your clips of the cats in the snow . I see from the clips's title that besides the English title, the rest is in Russian. So it's possible that the clip was filmed in Russia and cats may be more acclimatised to snow than here.

Velvet, sounds as if you are getting yourself well supplied. Have your remembered the pemmican?

My father had a lot of books (at one time around 5000) and some of those were books about expeditions to places like Everest and Antarctica. Pemmican was the main food that people such as Scott had on those expeditions so it's a word I remember from those books.

I think you're right EL, it was likely that Scott of the Antarctic was where I heard that word.  I loved that film when I was a child, real heroes.  Modern explorers don't come near what they had to go through imo. Captain Oates sacrificing himself and the poignant note that Captain Scott left, so moving.
