Hope your client visit goes well.

I've been having trouble connecting to the internet on my Ipad, I kept getting the "safari cannot open the page as the server cannot be found" message.

Weirdly, I was able to receive and send emails and use apps which required internet connection. Virgin Service Announcement said there was no broadband problem.

Eventually, I tried using my laptop and I could get internet on it.

Finally, I tried my youngest son's advice in these circumstances, "switch it off and on again" and that seemed to sort the problem.

I'm back from the client and think I have everything I need to do their tax returns which will be more complicated this time compared to previous years.

Squiggle, I hope Wales does sail back as otherwise people going across the severn Bridge will find themselves falling off into the water.

Yogi, I hope that the server problems don't come back. You might want to have a look at this article and print it off for future reference.

It's been rather busy for me today. On the forum I've had to get rid of well over 20 threads posted by 4 spammers. That's why I suggested to Lori something to reduce some (though not all) the spam which appears on the forum and she's agreed. Hence the thread which appears at the top.

Then there was the complicated meeting with the client this morning.

Then I've been sorting out my bank savings as on the account I had been using the rate has been reduced as from today making it not worth keeping it in that account.

Then yesterday afternoon when I was working on another client I found something which made me leave a message on his phone telling him to ring me as there's a problem. He rang back first thing this morning so I told him what I had found. He's coming here in a short while. I handing his accounts books back to him for him to sort out and then return them to me. I've been going through them today so that I will only need his cashbook back rather than bank statements and invoices. I've know him for years and it's a case that he's made something silly which can be rectified without the need to notify HMRC rather than him doing anything naughty.

El Loro

I'm hoping my idea works to reduce the spam which appears. It can't get rid of all of them. For instance some times they won't use the N*ke word but just post references to Air Max. It would be silly to create a rule to stop references to air.

I've put some of the savings into a 2 year bond which pays a bit over 3 times what I would be getting if I left things. I put the balance in a savings accounts where the interest is a bit less than what I would be getting. That account is instant access so that account will go up and down throughut the year. With the old savings account if the balance goes below ÂĢ10k, the interest rate plummets to next to nothing, but that's not the case with the new instant access savings account.

I've seen that client now nd he's going to sort it out. There's a lot to sort out and it will take him some time.

I have to smile at your burglar antics Summer, poor Mr. Summer I hope he was able to get back to sleep OK.

It's a nice morning here with a pale blue sky.  I don't think we are due for any serious rain until Friday.  The sea is very blue but Wales has disappeared completely, you would swear the visibility is good today but no sign of Wales at all

I wonder who was holding the camera (difficult to hold and press the button with hooves I would think )

we were there hi squiggle

I doubt if the spammers would agree with you It won't stop them posting though as the spam is generated by non-thinking spam computers rather than real people. That's demonstrated as many of the threads they post are not in English and can be posted in any of the sub forums here such as Blue Bloods which is hardly ever used by us.

Middle son called this morning to tell me that, overnight, some mindless idiot has scored his car with a key. All down one side and over the bonnet.

He and DiL live in a flat in a quiet residential area and they have one designated car parking space close to the flats. Anyone with a second car, has to park in the designated visitor's car parking area which is a few yards further away. Son's car was parked in the space nearest to the road (and can't be seen clearly from any of the flats) which is why he thinks it was the one to get scored.

When it happened to eldest son and his neighbours, the ratbags came back more than once, so middle son's dilemma is, does he get it fixed straight away, or wait to see if the idiots come back again?

Yogi19

Yogi, what a mean thing for that idiot to do. It does put your son in a dilemma as to what to do though it he intends to claim on insurance he can't delay that,

Squiggle, the cloud has come down so low here that I can't see any of the local hills, I could never see Wales from where I live but if I went to the top of Cleeve Common near Cheltenham it is possible to see beyond the Black Mountains in South Wales and also the hills in Shropshire. It is the highest point in the Cotswolds.

Son has called me again. He contacted the police and reported the damage. He didn't really expect them to do anything but they are going to send someone round to see the damage and they have given him a crime number. It also means if someone else's car gets damaged, the police will know it's not an isolated incident.

Son has decided not to go through his insurance. He knows a good body shop/spray painter guy through work contacts and he can do the work for less than the excess on his insurance, so son won't lose his No Claims or have an inflated premium next year. He is going to speak to one of his elderly neighbours who has a designated parking space (which can be seen from son's flat) but no longer has a car, and is going to ask if he would mind son using his space.

I assume there are no CCTV cameras overlooking where he had the car as that would be of interest to the police.

He know the neighbour quite well and I'm hopeful they can come to an agreement.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any cameras which cover the visitor's car park area.

Thanks Squiggle.

Like you, I don't understand how their minds work. It's pure spite!

Hi Velvet.  I'm fine, hope you are well too.

I know what I'd like to do to the vandals, if I could get my hands on them!

I did stick with The Code and thought it was very good. Thanks for giving me the heads up. I wonder if there will be a second series?

Aww Squiggle, that poor dog! Keira can empathise with him as she hates going to the vets and gets herself into a state. Last time, when we were called into the consulting room she did her best to drag me out of the front door.

Thanks El.

Joyron, if you are reading the forum, I hope all is well with you and that one day you will be able to join us again.
