Good morning everyone, it's a beautiful cool morning so far, very welcome.  I know it will heat up later but I'm enjoying it while I can.  I hope all goes well at your parents Yogi, that your Mum hasn't been too upset by this illness and that your Dad is fighting back.

The view out to Wales this morning looks like a painting, the sea is a beautiful silvery blue.

Enjoy your day everyone

A strange coincidence. As a child there were two films I saw with my parents which I found disturbing and both of them starred Tyrone Power.

The lesser film was the 1949 film Prince of Foxes which also had Orson Welles in. It's a historical movie with Welles as one of the Borgias and Power as a commoner. It's only one scene and it's a black and white film so a lesser impact but Power pretends to gouge his eyes out and then shows that it's two large grapes which he squashed.

The other one is the 1947 film Nightmare Alley which is Power's darkest film and untypical of the films he's best known for. Many people would still find that film disturbing particularly the bleak ending. I think the film is due to be remade in the next year or so.

Afternoon all

It’s warm here!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes for my mum and dad. We got some shopping in for them and did some household chores, and MrY prepared food for their evening meal.

My middle son called in last night after work and my youngest is calling in tomorrow. My eldest has ordered grab rails and is going to fit them in the bathroom and at the outside doors.

El, I don’t think I’ve seen either of those films - don’t think I’d like them.

I haven’t watched any of the new Bletchley series. I enjoyed the first series but thought series 2 went off the boil.

I hope you are all keeping cool and are having a good day.

Yogi, I'm glad all is well with your parents and it's a good idea re fitting thise grab rails

I'm not expecting much from the spin off Bletchley Circle series though might try it. As you say the second series was a lesser series than the first. Apparently the spin off series has been made after fans clamoured for more to be made.

Afternoon all

All my running about is now over

Summer, I definitely think you need a relaxing day off for yourself

El, that was a lovely story about the wedding ring.

I’ve told Mr Yogi we’re going paddling in some nearby rivers to see if we can find any gold

Squiggle, I agree that it’s much nicer in the morning heat. Evenings can be absolutely stifling atm.

Good morning everyone, very overcast and humid this morning with heavy clouds slowly moving, I don't think there's any rain in them for the moment though. There is rain in the forecast for today although never more than about 50% chance of it.  That sounds like a lovely walk for you and Bramble Summer.

Enjoy your day everyone
