last time i was on that train (notts to skeg)  i was travelling back from my sons and the train was full of 18-30's going to a "specialweekend reunion at butlins"  people were drinking/smoking and disappearing in pairs into the toilets, the conductor only surfaced from her hidey hole at each station, had i not been honest i could have got away with not paying

i wasn't waving i was trying to escape

it's not called the "sardine express" for nothing!
a friend coming home from skeg could not get off because of the crowding and missed her stop - she had to travel all the way to boston(and back) and the conductor wanted to charge her for the  privilege

Machel's post seems to have become squashed - it must have seen the reference to sardines. It carries on:

"it's not called the "sardine express" for nothing!. a friend coming home from skeg could not get off because of the crowding and missed her stop - she had to travel all the way to boston(and back);and the conductor wanted to charge her for the privilege."

Erin, last year about this time I just managed to get to the bus stop at work when it started gusting really bad. I was able to hang onto someone's garden fence while I wated. Then it dawned on me that I might be blown away if I let go to get on the bus. Fortunately the wind died down just at the point when the bus came. I phoned hubby from the bus to come out and get me when the bus got to the stop I had to get off at.

Mainly in Scotland though, I understand and the red bit's to be hit the worst. I've heard tell that they're now saing it could be almost 100mph in places. So Erin's tree might get a bit further than the Borders.
