this morning City of London police warned people on behalf of the banks of a 'sophisticated scam'

you get a message saying your phone network(includes all major providers) has failed to process your payment. It then asks you to press a button for details .Do not press anything....it is then able to access all your details and raid your bank account

I know that most forum members will not fall for it, but you may know someone vulnerable.

Matin Lewis confirmed that this is happening and lots of accounts have been accessed

Baz, I've been getting those Amazon Prime and computer scammers as well

Saint, I've been getting those domestic appliance insurance scams recently

The other one I've had is oven cleaning. Had a couple of calls recently

Oven cleaning one has been around for a long time

A good source for information from the police and other people are The Next Door sites which cater for your immediate area

I had a call about oven cleaning this morning ....and thanks to this thread I put the phone down straight away , but can someone tell me exactly what the scam is please ?

It's not necessarily a scam as such, more of a nuisance call. They are supposed to check that a phone number isn't registered with TPS before they ring. They aren't doing that so are in breach. If they can't be bothered to comply with the rules relating to marketing, what else aren't they complying with? Would you want someone coming into your house at this time who can't be bothered to comply with the law?

Thanks El ......I wouldn’t have anyone unknown coming to the house .....even before COVID

Just received a scam call supposedly from Amazon. This is more serious than the Prime ones I've been getting . Recorded message saying that my Amazon account had had a suspicious order for Β£1,049 and to press 1 to speak to someone.
A recent Youtube clip mentions this - starts at 1 minute 20 seconds in:

I’ve had those too El ....but as I don’t have an Amazon account
