Remember years ago when Saturday night TV was brilliant?

Just watching Ant & Dec and I do like their show but when I was a kid Saturday nights were brilliant.  The whole family would gather in the living room and watch TV and there were so many great programmes on....not just one like these days!

Some that I remember are:

Blind Date:  Probably my favourite long-running show.

Gladiators:  We'd choose a contestant and if they won then we'd get a small prize.

You've been framed

CatchPhrase

Strike it Lucky

Family Fortunes

Man Oh Man (I LOVED this one!)

I must have been quite young when I watched Blind Date because I was convinced that the couples were going to stay together forever after the show

Uber fave in our house was the Val Doonican Show

Not the one with Des O'Connor, Rexi

Oh  apparently, according to google, some chap called Michael Miles hosted it way back when

My dad always wanted to go on the Generation game or as a family go on family fortunes.

I remember my older brother years ago tricking my dad and telling him that he was doing a generation game competition ,he had to name 20 electrical items(quite a lot in the seventies)my dad told him it was easy ,so my brother told him to answer it then .Three or four days later my dad said he had the answer and started to shout out the electrical items, at the end my brother in a Brucie voice said 'Good Game 'Good Game' I thought my dad was going to kill him .

We only had 3 channels and even then half of the schedules were made up of filler and repeats!

Who remembers Monica Rose?

I remember when Sale of the Century first started. I'd not long been going out with Mr Woo - I was babysitting my nephew. I rang him at work and was Ammmmmmmmazed at all the wonderful stuff.

Years later when our kids were really small I remember Saturday nights being really special ......I'd but M&S Chicken Kiev or Chicken Cordon Bleu and garlic mushrooms and we'd have a special dinner and share a bottle of wine whilst watching Dynasty. Happy days ..........................oooooh yeah used to love Happy Days too

I've watched it three times now...start to finish! Funny how you didn't notice the shaky scenery first time around

Forerunner of 50 Shades.....

Remember The Thorn Birds?    Shocking!

It was a story of three school friends with a secret.

The famous line in all of the trailers was (delivered by Phoebe Cates) 'Which one of you bitches is my mother?'

I found the book much better than the series Sooz.

didn't hold a candle to Peyton Place  Was Lace Shirley Conran?...I get mixed up with her and Barbara Bradford Taylor

I've got the Peyton Place theme tune running in my head now. Imagine ....Ryan O'NEill and Mia Farrow starring in it as Alison and Rodney.

My absolute favourite programme ever though (not Saturday night) St Elsewhere ...............did anyone else love it?

HSB was great but I adored St Elsewhere ......was a bit in love with Boomer. Some great names in it .......very early starring role for Denzil Washington .....Dr Phil.

I didn't watch all of St Elsewhere - but I do remember enjoying it.   I loved Hill Street Blues though - and Ally McBeal.     My favourite American shows at the moment are Greys Anatomy and The Good Wife.
