A new radio series called Unreal: A Critical History of Reality TV may be of interest to you. All episodes are available on the BBC website:

There are 10 episodes which are each just under an hour long and there's a 5 minute introduction episode as well.
The first episode is on Big Brother.

The episodes do carry a warning about very strong language.

I haven't listened to any of the series as it's of zero interest to me.

I was thinking more of those who seek to become celebrities to become famous for being a celebrity.
