So, to be able to use the dialog facility ...the only thing I can actually access from the GaGa app ...which is how I post on the forum ... I have to upgrade ???

Creating new dialogs requires a premium membership.  Replying to existing ones does not.

But the facility has already disappeared on my app Ted ! I can't even access my old ones

Looks like an issue with the iPhone app. We will investigate.  In meantime, I suggest simply accessing the site via your mobile browser. We have a mobile-optimized version which I actually prefer to the iPhone app.

I'm on the IPad Ted, which I use cos I can magnify the app. I can get in via Safari , but TBH I find it quite tricky due to the small font ... But I guess if I have to , I have to ...

Well, we can make the font larger there if it helps.

I've edited Ted's announcement about videos as users were thinking this meant you couldn't have Youtube clips.

I think you can still post on existing PMs/Dialogs, it's new ones you can't create without being a VIP.

yes I did read it all thanks El Loro... I was talking about the peeps that send Dialogs regularly. .ie new ones..

 

Not only that, if people are daft enough to pay for a service that is free on every free forum version offered out there they will more than likely get charged a minimum exchange rate fee on their cards as well on top of the $25 

 

Just reading the other thread now so not sure if any of that has been mention on there..in particular the FEE on their CARDS if they buy a VIP membership, they need to check what their provider charges for overseas purchases.

 

Google myfree/fast forums.. just one of many that have free use forums with the very basics like editing and PM'ing..

Blimey ...................are PM's used that much? I can live without it - we did on Ch4 for many years.

I don't think it's just the PM's but more (for me anyway) not being able to post pictures, vids and editing post.  (My typing is atrocious, especially when I'm on the tiny mac keyboard.)

 

Basically from what I can see, without the premium membership you will be able to post a topic and reply to a topic. 

 

 

Cinds you can still edit a post for a set amount of time ... after timed out then no you cant ... u tubes can still be posted - it is personnal vids etc and pictures from your PC that you have to pay for

If you want to edit a posting you still can provided it's within the grace period (I think that's an hour or so). After the grace period has ended you cannot edit a posting without being a VIP.

MrsH, yes, Photobucket is another website so there should be no problem in including pictures from there on the forum. It's where you want to post pictures  which are on your computer as an attachment where you need to be a VIP.

You can still edit your posts without a VIP, just that there will be an 'editing window'. Similar to CH4, but a lot longer.

 

Also you can reply to a PM that is sent to you. (and I realise that means the sender would have to be a VIP!. )

Don't think I didn't consider it. 

All the mods who are forum members (as opposed to Lori) seem to have VIP under their name now.  Have you all paid your fees or did this come because you are mods?

Thanks El, I realise that now.  I usually edit within a few minutes anyway as I usually notice my typos as the post goes through.

I can still edit my first post in here from 3 hrs ago. . I didn't do it but was just checking how long we got..

 

For those people that use the PM's regularly i.e. send new ones, why don't you set up a FB pm or if the peeps you PM are not on FB apply to one of the countless forum providers out there that do a free version that allows PM's. . set up a small one just for your PM peeps

me too, but hardly anyone talks to me.   

I was just looking at the very few dialogs I had and noticed one from a past murder mystery. .that's gone down the pan hasn't it. .unless you are prepared to pay for it.. 

 

I know to a lot of you $25 isn't that much . .but to me it's a fortune. .not to mention for a basic service that you can get free almost everywhere else.. I don't use the dialogs so that part doesn't bother me but am sure not all that do use them have the money to throw away just for the privileged of a PM.. 

Any dialogs you have sent or received up to now should continue to be there and you can continue to talk in them. (unless YOU have deleted them yourself)

 

From now on you will only be able to SEND a dialog if you are a VIP, but a non-VIP can still receive and reply to a dialog.

Fluffs I think people already understand they have to pay to send new dialogs but can continue to use ones they have up and running or reply to a VIP members one..  you only have to read both these threads to see people got it...

 

not that there seems to be much of a take up on the VIP so far, if at all,  apart form the Mods freebie ones which they need if they are going to tell a member off  by dialog.. . and they can't use the ignore function cos they wouldn't be able to mod properly
