Lori has been changing the way that the return key works. Although return will still show a gap in the Add Reply box as if there's a new paragraph, when ithe reply is posted the gap won't appear on the posted reply. So the effect is as it used to be. If you do want to have a new paragraph then you'll need to press return twice.

As people were having problems with pasting youtube clips direct on to the Add Reply box, Social Strata has now changed it so that you need to post the link into the url box via inser/edit video. So as it used to be. If you do post the youtube link direct on to the Add Reply box it will just appear as a link to that video.

That's great. It's an auto action for me when doing a paragraph so even tho it may look like a double paragraph I don't need to go back and change it as it will appear correctly once posted.

Yay!

Yep that works for me too

There seems to be a bug with some Youtube clips in that if their address includes certain non-alpha/numerica characters such as an underscore(_) it does not get posted correctly via insert/edit video, For instance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlI_NQHZBTw just results in:

Until this is sorted out, if this happens to a clip you are trying to post the simpler option is to just post the link in the reply,

There is a way to embed the clip but it's more complicated. On the Youtube page with the clip click on Share (which is under the poster's name). Then from the menu which appears click on Embed which is shown above the row of sharing options. Copy the embed code which appears. It starts and ends with iframe.
Come back to the Add Reply box here. Click on Source code icon which is the last one. If there's any code shown in the box you then see, press return to get to a new line. Then paste the code into that box. Press OK to return to the normal Add Reply box

If you want to put some more text after the clip it's best to first click on the white space just to the bottom right corner of the clip and you should then see a blinking cursor. Then press return to get to a new line.

Although more longwinded it does work and is also the way you need to post any video clip on the web which is not a Youtube one.

Hiya x.......I'm unable to post smileys on the latest version of IOS on my iPad.....The box just collapses when I click on it and if it does manage to stay up I press the required smiley and nothing happens. This may be just me, because Baz was able to post them last night, but just thought I'd mention it (laptop is ok)

Testing from my iPad  works for me.

are you using safari, Kaytee?

Thanks Lori.....using Safari, they came back last night, but not all the time.....it's a bit hit and miss, but no worries, must just be something sticking on the I pad......That one posted ha ha

Sorry for the wait Lori......I have replied to the smiley problem above, but was using Chrome on the laptop, not tried on Safari on the iPad, but I see that Chrome doesn't work for pics......no worries and thank you

No worries, Kaytee...I was able to entertain myself whilst waiting.

I thought that the smiley issue was on your iPad, right? Some people use chrome on their iPads/iPhones, so I wanted to make sure I was testing the same environment you were.

For me there's a different view between what I see on the iPad with Safari and what I see on my pc with Firefox. Before the update they came up with the same view, it was synchronisity but not now. I'm adjusting between both but still miss what we had before which worked, for me anyway

Yes, you won't see the right-hand column on the iPad, since it is removed for the smaller screen, to make it more readable on the smaller screen.

I know it's hard to adjust to change...especially if you didn't see anything wrong with the old view...

Last Post still not working. Sometimes it does (this thread), sometimes it doesn't (Sprooty's birthday thread).

New button still not working, shows new posts when there are none.

I know it works okay for other people though Lori, so if it's just me don't worry about it. If I want to join in a quick moving thread (Apprentice or something) I will fire up the laptop and see if that works.

Last post seems to be working OK for me, but NEW button is still a bit hit and miss.

You're reading a thread....you come to the last post that's currently on your screen.....you want to find out if there are new posts so you click the 'refresh' button next to the address panel (effectively Reload Page)

Once the page has reloaded you should still be looking at the last post you were at when you clicked REFRESH, but it's not always doing that - though I think it was for a while.

Hmmm. I'm not sure it should always be doing that...seems like it should take you to where you were when you completed the last "action" (e.g. post), but I'm not sure about that.

It always did that in version 1 and I expected it to continue working that way in version 2, but sometimes it doesn't.

Of course, now that I've mentioned it, it'll probably work perfectly from now on!

Sprout, that thread is showing 4 Youtube clips posted by you at around the time you posted your reply above. They do seem to work correctly.

Because of there being lots of clips on pages on that thread there is a time gap between going on that page and the clips appearing. Initially there is just a white space, then the clip appears. The slower the broadband connection, the longer it takes for the clips to appear. It's possible your connection was slower than normal which made it look as if the clips had vanished.

I haven't tried to post anything more in the music thread Lori, but I've tried to post this in the 'stuff you want to say thread but don't want to make a thread' I've tried to post it both ways The picture and the video option using the URL and neither of them showed properly. I had to delete when they came up. Am I doing something wrong  If I am can anyone say what it is please. Thanks in advance
