It's probably not relevant but it might help if those who have experienced the cogs (and I have too) post which operating system and browser they use: I use Windows 7 and Firefox.

I've been getting cogs for days now. I'm on my ipad and using Safari.

It's clear from the above that it's nothing to do with operating systems or browsers. It does look as if it's at the Social Strata end.

I'll mention to the team that this is happening. Haven't noticed it myself, but I'm not on as much as you guys are.

Doesn't seem to be related to our OS and/or browser, I guess...

We have apparently noticed a few issues with the servers, and it's on our radars. So, we're keeping our eye out.

You're welcome! I know it's not much of an answer, but those guys can be kind of cagey sometimes....

A tip for when you get the whirling cogs issue. If they continue for more than 15 seconds, click on the close box on the top right corner of the Please Wait. It's possible that you will go straight to the thread page and find your post is there.

But, if you are returned to the Post Reply box, copy your reply (on computers just highlight the message, then Ctrl C). Then close the Post Reply box rather than resubmitting the message. The chances are that you won't see your comment on the thread page. But if you move to another page on the forum, then return to the page after a few seconds, you may find that the comment is now there. That is what I've found when I have had the cogs. If your posting hasn't worked, then go to Post Reply and paste your comment (Ctrl V) and try posting again.

Me too now Lori. Safari, Mac etc. Not as bad as it has been before though. I actually think its because of the amount of traffic involved with the World Cup.
