I wouldn't be catty about it, I'd be more of a bulldog.

Not as bad as I would be if the smokers weren't allowed out.

 

Didn't bother me cos I downed tools too most of the time 

I would a bit miffed , but then like El Loro said , I would be incandescent if they smoked around me  

I work with smokers and don't mind at all if they pick their times to nip off... What really pee's me off is there is one who spends about the last 20mins of her shift outside smoking with a cup of tea.... You're finishing! Why don't you just wait?!

I do Moonie and they are not supposed to, we had a policy introduced years ago and the snokers don't seem to want to adhere to it.

I calculated that one individual who takes four breaks per day actually costs the organisation approximately 2 working days every month.

Now that can't be right when we are funded by the public. Put it another way when you calculate it into days it seems unbelievable.

Now I have a friend who works for a private business and their policy is that you can have your smoking breaks but you clock out when you do therefore impacting on their time in work and how long they stay each day.

I think it's become a trait among us oipolloi these days, to concentrate far too much on what 'we' are being cheated out of,it seems to me that pettiness is the way to go.

 

I blame the government.

I find the whole thing fascinating

 

I understand those who don't wish to have people smoking near them but its gone to crazy levels whereby hospitals feel justified in banning all smoking even in its car parks.

Surely that is a denial of rights - a person who may have a genuinely recognised addiction yet is expected not to smoke even during a possible extended hospital stay?

 

All this whilst a jet with two engines the size of your house passes by overhead

In the light of future decriminalising of weed - I doubt tobacco will be banned

 

 

I used to smoke and to be honest I have never worked at a place where smokers got any extra breaks than non smokers. We were only allowed to smoke in our allotted breaks  It's an hard habit to break,,,so I suppose it wouldn't bother me as much as it would those who have never smoked. 

That would irk me, purely out of principle. If I was allowed equal amount of extra time off added to my lunch break, I'd be happy.
I'd also be happy that they weren't smoking around me

I tend to agree with Saint Renton. Planes are one thing but we always have a giggle when we cycle past various schools at chucking out times and observe the countless vehicles, petrol and diesel spewing out fumes n' particulates.

It does amaze me that with the millions of cars in your face people get riled up about a tiny stick of tobacco being within a mile of them.

I used to smoke in my teens but managed to give it up without all the modern "so called aids" 

 

  

 

I wonder if anyone does a head count on how many loo breaks people take?

And how long they take?

And whether anyone ever thinks to ask them to lessen their intake of fluids?

 

Also, what about those who are forever checking their mobiles during working hours?  Or using the computers to read forums.....
