Hi Hicky.

Not very nice here today. dull, windy and quite cold.

Got a lot of jobs done though.

Looked at my tomatoes this morning. There are still a lot of leaves on them, but the leaves are dying off, so I don't think they'll be taking any nutrients now? Might take some off though.

Hope you can work out how to put bigger wheels on your sack barrow.

Deciding what to grow next year is probably half the fun Hicky.

Have you got room for any more trees?

Watched the TV coverage of the Queen opening the Borders railway.

I'd have liked to have gone, but couldn't work out how to get there without waiting around for hours.

Plus I had to work really.

No, I don't see the point of the fake eviction either, with the HMs in the know.

Don't think we need even more rowing in there.

Bobby Davro was a bit harsh to Farrah, but what he said was true IMO.

Hicky

aaaww at your little grandson starting school. Hope it went well. I bet your SIL was well pleased with your parcel.

You are really good now at growing your own food.

Emptybox

well done securing a new customer, shame it is not for the grass too.

I caught bits of the queen and the rail way yesterday. What a cracking train that steam train was.

Yes this evcition thing does seem weird, as you say we don't really need to instigate more rows, they seems to come easy enough this year.

A loveley warm day here today, shame the forecast is saying it won't last.

Mum had a nice birthday, the carers gave some of their own free time to arrive earlier in the morning so they could serve her coffee in bed, and give her a little teddy they had bought her and they put a shiny "Birthday Girl" banner over her door. How sweet of them was that? The Costco cake was lovely and moist.

I have been real busy again, as the carer was off ill yestrday, so I did not even get a break to catch up.

I have carers booked in this weekend, so am going up to see OH's family again whilst it is still light. His SIL broke her wrist, so we are going to help look after our little 3 year old niece. Me and my family love looking after her. Mum will be in good hands with the carers I have booked, The only place I could get a b and b was in Llandudno, about 15 miles from the family, but it is lovely there. So wont' be around now till Sunday night.

Have a good weekend. xxx

M

Good evening Both.

Have ordered another Porters Trolley with bigger wheels as the cost of altering the other one would be more.

This one.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/600LB-...C_UL160_SR160%2C160_

Have ordered more Coir blocks as i need more composting material to add to the beds.

The onion sets have been posted, also the Coir and the new Porters Trolley.

Emptybox, If your Tomato leaves are dying it must be quite a bit colder where you are.

I have room for a few trees, if i don't use pots for tomato's then i have 2 tubs spare, and if i don't use 5 tubs for raspberries next year i could have more trees.

I am going to weigh the big apple on the Ellison s Orange as it;s massive.

I have some apples on the family tree and pears on the family pear tree.

I have put the apples in special bags i got from the USA.

can't get the real bags as they don't seem to have them in the UK.

Didn't watch the queen, she doesn't watch me.

Mollie, glad your mum had a nice birthday, thats nice of the carers to give up free time, and lovely to put a banner over the door.

Enjoy your trip to O/H's family, I used to go to Llandudno every few years when younger, it was nice there.

see you when you get back, have a safe journey.

Hicky

Hicky

hope you are pleased with your bigger wheeled trolley. Oh yes, I had heard a lot of people from Liverpool area go to Llandudno because it is not far from there. They still have the old Punch and Judy shows and deckchairs on the seafront there.

What are the special apple bags you get from USA?

hope you had a good day Emptybox.

just watching the rest of CBB then I have to pack my bags for our 2 nights away.Hhhhmm, let's see, 2 nights away, means at least 5 changes of clothes and 5 pairs of shoes, and a couple of jackets, just in case.

Goodnight both xx

M

Hi both.

Nice sunny day here.

But yes Hicky, I think it's usually a few degrees colder up here, especially at night. The season finishes that wee bit earlier.

The new porters trolley looks to be a more robust beast.

Yes, I guess you could squeeze some more trees in, if you stopped growing some other things?

Hope the barrow and other stuff arrive quickly.

Enjoy your visit to your OH's family Mollie. Hope you have a good time looking after your niece.

Just a pity that your OH's SiL broke her wrist.

Sounds like your Mum's birthday was a success, including your cake.

Those carers are diamonds, going over and above.

Yes the special steam train looked great on the TV.

Think they are doing a few special runs with steam trains, but the service will mostly be by ordinary diesel trains. Takes them about an hour to do the run from Tweedbank to Edinburgh.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Missed a day out somewhere.

Well it's Saturday Night, watching Pointless, then X-Factor.

My Trolley came today, wasn't due till next tuesday at the earliest.

It is ideal, been trying it in the garden, sails over the crushed slate.

I'm going to get a new set of Raspberry canes, 6 x 3 types with differing fruiting times.

Will order a set of Gooseberry plants as well, 3 differing fruiting types to give a longer season.

Am also thinking of getting a Bramley apple tree.

I will give the existing Raspberry plants away which leaves 5 tubs free, 3 for Gooseberries. the 2 Tomato tubs will convert to a Pear tree and the Bramley apple tree.

that leaves me 2 tubs for another 2 trees, not sure what yet.

Am putting the new Raspberry plants in a raised bed.

I'm thinking of 2 more family trees, another apple and a pear.

Mollie, Haven't been to Llandudno since the lads were young.

The apple bags are a greaseproof bag 5 x 7" and almost clear, i can't buy the rewal bags in the uk and 1 place in the US that had them don't ship abroad.

Hope you enjoy your stay away.

Emptybox, had rain in the night, been dry all day, some sunny spells as well.

Can't clear some raised beds yet as still have cucumbers growing and beetroot.

Still can't see the point of putting anyone in the secret room tbh.

Think it's pointless.

The nomination twist is ok though.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Raining here all day, and the forecast for next week looks bad as well.

Not good when I'm supposed to be going to my new customer on Tuesday.

Glad you got the good weather, and was able to try out your new trolley.

I see you are well into planning your plants for next year.

Couldn't do much outside, so spent most of the time playing on my computers.

Finding that I'm not that interested in this CBB, as I can't really get behind anyone. When that happens I tend to get a bit bored of the format TBH.

Janice is quite entertaining, I guess?

Oh. An interesting thing I found out about Chloe-Jasmine, is she was one of the backing singers in Chantelle's fake band Kandyfloss, all those years ago, and actually sung in the House.

(She's the one in the orange skirt, trying to take the limelight )

Evening Emptybox.

It's been lovely today here, sunny all day , had rain first thing.

Been putting some of the compost i bought into certain raised beds.

The cucumbers are still growing so i'll leave that plant for now.

Have been listing my next items to order, the Raspberry plants and the Gooseberry plants and the Apple trees, i need more trees but not sure what to get yet, they send them out in November so no hurry.

My Lad is selling his house in Oz as he is buying a luxury apartment but it's not built yet, he will rent a place in when he sells it, he can get 600k Oz pounds.

Sorry you've had bad weather which stops you working outside.

Yes, CBB hasn't been very interesting, mind you, without 24hr live feed i have no idea how we are supposed to know what is going on.

I read about that video of Chloe in Kandyfloss, she looks ok doesn't she?

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you got lovely weather again.

Wasn't at all bad here today actually. Some sunshine when I went to the supermarket this afternoon.

I'm sure you'll work out which plants to order before the November deadline.

That's interesting that your lad is selling his Aussie house and buying a luxury apartment. Is that going to be more or less expensive than his house.

Bet it'll be spacious. All Aussie places seem to be.

Have swapped a couple of my computers around, so I am now using a higher spec machine as my business PC. It's the one that I've already converted to Windows 10, so should be good for quite a few more years.

The other one is 10 years old now, and has been playing up, so if I can keep it going, it'll be the computer in the dining room, for playing music and surfing the web. So not so important that it keeps working.

Must admit, I hadn't remembered that Chantelle sang with Kandyfloss in the House. I remembered that she sang her song in front of the others, but thought it was just to a backing track.

Chloe-Jasmine could only have been 16 then, if she's genuinely only 25 now?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad day really, pulled all the beets up, will give them away, want to sort the bed out for winter.

Onions almost dry will be able to bag them soon.

I'll order more plants/trees before the weekend, don't get a lot of pocket money now i've retired, only get 10% of what i used to get.

Have re-potted another one of O/H's trees from the front garden area.

Not sure on the price of my lads new apartment is as he ordered it a while back

He put a deposit down and if he sells his house he will get paid outright so he wont be short of readies.

Yes, it's handy having a couple of computers, glad your converted one is ok.

I didn't remember seeing Kandyfloss singing in the house, but they must have.

Eviction tomorrow, Chloe/stevi 11/8, Gail 7/4, Janice 8/1.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you got a nice day.

Raining here most of the day.

Pity your pocket money has been curtailed since you retired.

Why are you giving your beetroots away? Don't you like them?

It's great that your lad has made a great life for himself down under.

I think that video of Kandyfloss was actually when they went back into the House for the BBLB prog afterwards, rather than actually when CBB was running?

Been trying to update my other Windows 8 computer to Windows 10, but it keeps failing and giving error messages. Have tried at least 4 times using different methods.

Think the error code is indicating it's something to do with the fact that I dual boot with Linux on that PC.

Having said that the PC that I successfully updated dual booted in exactly the same way, so not sure why one would fail and the other not?

I'll need to do more research.

I know Windows 10 can run on this PC, because I was trying out the preview on it. Fairly sure I could get it to install if I clean installed Windows 8 and got rid of the Linuxes, then tried the upgrade. But I don't really want to do that at the moment. Perhaps before the free year is up I will.

I don't think I'd miss Stevi or Chloe-Jasmine really. Their relationship is a bit too wierd.

Or Gail TBH.

shame you are having trouble with your pc and windows stuff. I haven't bothered with it yet myself (well I mean OH hasn't had chance to yet).

Hope the weather holds out for you to do your new customers work today.

Hicky

sounds like your home grown food is still going well and keeping you busy. Shame retirement means a lot less pocket money though. How are you health wise now? Has the waterworks problems gone now?

Where is your son's apartment? In Brisbane? Did he decide to move closer to the city? I know they have lovely apartments handy for the city.

Over the weekend, enjoyed looking after our little niece, took her to Colwyn Bay mountain zoo. She loved it. Am tired out though as it is a long way to go for just 2 nights, then I had mum to look after when we got back. Trying to catch up yesterday and today now.

I liked the nomination twist, a bit different. So funny, when we knew the ones they wanted to get rid of were the ones who get to stay.

That is interesting seeing Chloe singing in Chantelle's band, meaning she has already been involved with BB. This just increases my doubts about this relationship with Stevie, might of been invented to get them into the CBB house? The pair of them are just so weird together.

have a good day.

M

Evening Both.

It's been a good day, re-potted another of O/H's trees into a 30ltr tub.

planted my Autumn Onion sets, White & Red.

Yes, money is pretty short now with me not earning, i get a bit of the pension money but of course it means i am very restricted on what and when i can buy anything.

The allocation i had for the garden has long gone.

I am giving the beets away mainly because i planted the wrong type, didn't realise they were Golden, thought they were normal.

I mainly grow stuff for the fun of it so i don't need much for myself.

I just give most away.

You are probably right about Kandyfloss, thought i hadn't seen them when the program was on.

If your win10 won't install it's probably a disc area fault

Dez on twitter posted this when he had the same problem.

--------------

Problem resolved. NTFS File System problem after update. Had to run chkdsk c: /f /r in limited command prompt several times.

-------------------

Seems to be a problem with 64 bit systems with update KB3081424.

--------------

Don't know but it took several goes run chkdsk c: /f /r in cmd prompt which boots on a write protected petition x:

------------------------

I don't think anyone will miss Stevi & Chloe, or Gail, what a waste of space.

Mollie, Health wise i am fine now, no problems, touch wood, back to normal.

Not sure where my lads apartment is being built, i did know.

Thats nice being able to take your niece to the zoo, Colwyn Bay is lovely.

It's a double eviction tonight so that is interesting.

Pretty sure the strange couple will go.

Hicky

Evening both.

Very wet overnight. Didn't rain today, but everything was still soaking wet.

Went to my new customer. Was a qualified success.

Cut one section of their high hedge, but the hedge was so wet that I got soaked. Also my petrol hedge trimmer cut out after about 10 mins, so I had to use my rechargeble, which cut out after an hour. Think the wet conifer cuttings clogged them up, as they both worked again when I got home and cleaned them up.

Shouldn't really have used the rechargeable when it was so wet, as it's electric. But didn't really have much choice.

Spent the rest of the time weeding one of their flower beds.

So.....it might work out?

Thanks for looking up that solution on Twitter Hicky.

I've actually already fixed it. I had to get rid of the Linux bootloader and reinstall the Windows one using the recovery console.

Now it boots straight into Windows, and the upgrade worked smoothly.

Bit annoyed that I had to mess around with the bootloader, and I've temporarily lost my Linuxes, but pleased this PC is now on Windows 10, and everything is working fine.

Bet your niece enjoyed that mountain zoo Mollie.

Pity you were so tired, and had to get straight back into caring for your Mum etc.

Glad you had a good day in your garden Hicky.

Really surprised that Chloe and Stevi stayed, and it was Scoop that went. I'd have thought he would have been popular?

Not shocked Gail went, but if she'd had been as animated in the House, as she was in her interview and on BOTS, perhaps she might have stayed?

Hopefully drier weather for me tomorrow so i can get some grass cutting done.

emptybox

evening Emptybox.

A lovely day here really.

Been putting my new compost into the old Beetroot bed ready for spring.

Put up a Pea net onto the wires for next year as that bed will be peas, cucumber and tomato's.

Went and ordered my travel pass today, O/H renewed hers, never used them yet though but as we want to go to a relation in Suffolk it might come in handy for local travel.

Having Brekkie out tomorrow then going to B&Q, need covers for the big 3 seater benches and a machine to pick up leaves, some big tree in the area and i have loads of fruit trees, need the leaves to make leaf mold.

Your rechargeable hedge cutter is battery so it's ok in the rain it will only be a few volts and you have no chance of a shock.

You can't get a shock off low voltage, it takes mains voltage to cause a problem.

Glad you got your 2nd win10 installed, you may be able to sort out the other boot method.

I was shocked that Scoop & Gail went but no-one voted to keep them in.

This Friday will be interesting.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Glad you had a lovely day. Not bad day here as well. Quite warm sunshine this afternoon. The grass stays quite wet at this time of the year though.

Hope you put that travel pass to good use.

And enjoy your brekkie out tomorrow, and get all you want from B&Q.

Wasn't really worried about getting a shock from the hedger Hicky. I was more worried about water getting into the switches etc. Hopefully it hasn't come to any harm.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

A lovely day here, better than i expected.

Had brekkie in Hoylake, fantastic.

Went to B&Q, O/H bought me a leaf blower/sucker, and got a garden shredder as well.

Have put weed matting over the raised beds that have been prepared for planting, it will let water through but stop the weeds and keep the cats off.

Have ordered 3 more trees for now, a Bramley Apple, A Scrumptious Apple, and a Red Falstaff Apple.

Will order the Raspberry collection & Gooseberry collections next week.

to use your cordless tool in the rain just take a roll of clingfilm with you and you wrap it around certain parts but it still lets you operate switches.

I can get prunings from some trees now and put them through the shredder, that should be ok for the compost, i can use my own pruning's from the Raspberry plants and trees.

Am hoping the leaves will go though but the leaf collector shreds them as far as i know because it says it converts the leaves down to 1/10.

Hicky

both

well I too was surprised that Chloe and Stevie didn't go, but I guess the guy who did go didn't seem to be of much interest, and I am glad to see the back of Gail, she seemed to do nothing but whinge and cry and boss people around in the kitchen.

Emptybox

glad you worked your pc stuff out ok in the end.

Gosh your new customer's job sounded like hard work, especially as your equipment didn't like it. Let's hope your hedger works ok now after that.

Hicky

I guess as you give so much of your food away, you will always be popular with the neighbours.

Glad you had a nice brekkie out, that leaf blower should come in very useful at this time of year.

You won't be short of apples once all those trees take off.

Surprisingly we too have had 2 sunny days in a row. They had predicted rain, great for me to dry all my washing.

Social services agreed to pay for an extra quarter of an hour for mum to have duel carers each morning, and thankfully it is meaning it is much easier for the girls to get mum up and ready for the day centre bus driver by 9am. I have to pay for a lot of mum's care out of her house money, but social services do pay for the double handle care calls.

I have had to get rid of 2 carers so far, but out of around 17, that is not so bad. These 2 were ok, but not good team workers and now the girls have to work in pairs and work out the best way to transfer mum, it was more important I got girls who were adaptable and worked well with others.

Nearly time for CBB.

Daugther made family a nice potato pie with veg, chicken, bacon and gravy sauce, and she made me a veg, cheese sauce pie, very nice it was.

We have warnings all along the motorway round here that it is world cup (rugby) time so plan ahead for traffic. Sounds like I will have to avoid going shopping in Cardiff during rugby time.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening guys.

Not too bad day here. A bit cloudy with a little drizzle at times, but I got a lot done anyway.

Sounds like you are both getting the good weather, and not leaving much over for me?

You've been stocking up on garden tools Hicky. That shredder will come in handy for making your compost.

Glad you enjoyed your brekkie in Hoylake.

Good tip about the cling film over the switches on the hedgecutter.

I don't usually use it when it's so wet, it's just that I said I'd be there at a particular time, so I thought I should go anyway, as it was the first time.

I've been using it today, and it seems fine, so hopefully no harm done.

Hi Mollie.

Working out the carers seems a very complicated job. Didn't realise you got so much say in who to have and who not to have.

But as you say, it's important to have people who work well together, and who get on with your Mum.

Glad Social Services agreed to fund that bit extra, and it's working out well.

Didn't realise the Rugby World Cup was on, or that it was hosted here?

Just shows you how much notice I take.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Mollie, Wonder who will go tonight.

Not been a bad day here, no rain anyway.

Just been getting the raised beds ready for the next planting.

Been adding the compost and Coir and put weed matting over to keep the weeds off.

Have now planned what will be in the raised beds next year.

I now have 1 bed of Asparagus, 1 off Raspberries, I with Grape Vines and onions, 1 with Spring Onions, Beetroot and Carrots, 1 with Peas, Cucumber and Tomato.

I have more stuff to buy next week.

I only grow it to give away really, I just enjoy growing it.

When all the trees start giving off fruit it will be fantastic.

The little popped in today from school and they had some tomato's, Raspberries, They had a cucumber each and an Asian Pear.

Don't envy you dealing with all these carers, and an expensive do.

That was nice having Daughter making those Pies for you all.

Yes, it could be awkward getting around with the Rugby on.

Emptybox, Pity you are getting the not so nice weather.

But at least you managed to get a lot done.

I'm excited about the Shredder, haven't tried it yet though.

Might get some cutting off my neighbours, it will all go in the compost as i need some more brown stuff.

Hicky

Emptybox

hope you got some of our nice weather today. It was nice again here, just a brief shower, lucky I took my washing in on time when I saw the grey clouds coming.

Glad to hear your hedgecutter seems none the worse after the other day.

Yes because mum is in her own home, we can say if we don't want a particular carer coming into her home, so I did. Luckily the social worker was in complete agreement that now mum's needs are complicated, it is in mum's best interest to have the most suitable carers for her current needs for the bit they pay for, so she was all for me saying which ones I did not want. And of course for the sessions we pay for, then we would expect a choice.

How are you work wise? Keeping up well, or a bit behind?

And how is your health problems now? Has it settled a bit now, and are you still on the meds?

Hicky

You certainly have a lot planned for the raised beds.

It is nice you enjoy growning it, shame you can't sell it at a market or somewhere, as it would help add to your pocket money. I sometimes see people selling grow your own at the roadside outside their houses.

The little one certainly gets fed well with all those vitamins in your home grown food when he comes to visit.

Hope you are pleased with the shedder when you use it.

Wonder who will leave tonight on CBB? Hope it isn't Janice as she is such an eccentric.

So glad OH got to work at home today as there was 10 mile traffic jams on the M4 this afternoon.

Nearly time for CBB, enjoy the show.

M

Evening both.

Not too bad today, but we had a shower around lunch time.

Quite glad that Farrah went tonight. It seemed she had become a bit nicer recently, but her interviews and behaviour on BOTS show that was just a front, and she was just as nasty as ever.

Mollie it's good that you get a say in which carers to have look after your Mum. Must be very difficult dealing with them all, and the social workers etc.

Glad your OH was at home tonight, with all the traffic.

Workwise I'm more or less up to date, although the weather for next week doesn't look too clever, so this time next week the answer might be different.

Healthwise I'm a bit up and down at the moment. The medication doesn't seem to be controlling things very well.

At times I feel like I need to pee all the time, and I don't know whether to go out, as I'd need to be dashing behind a bush every half hour. Occasionally painful as well.

Other times I can go for 3 or 4 hours without needing a pee. But those can both be in the same day, so I never know if I'm going to have a good day or a bad day.

Seem to usually be OK at night. Usually only have to go a couple of times.

Just wish it would settle down. I was more or less stable for months, but these last few weeks haven't been so good.

When it gets bad I take Ibuprofen, and then Paracetomol at night. But I don't like taking all these tablets.

Still......mustn't grumble.

Hicky. You are certainly having fun planning all your planting for next year, and getting the raised beds ready.

What do the littlies do with a cucumber? Surely if they ate a whole cucumber they would get indigestion?

Got my third computer put onto Windows 10 today. It's the 10 year old one that had Windows 7 on it (originally Windows XP). Seems to run fine with it.

I have got another computer that still works (a 13Â― year old Dell), but it's too low spec to handle Windows 10. It can barely handle XP. I hardly ever turn it on nowadays anyway. But it's in the bedroom to play music while I'm changing the sheets or something.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A lovely day here, just pottering about in the garden really.

My free TV licence arrived, a ÂĢ72 rebate, very nice.

Got the water bill, on a meter now, it is about half the cost of the other place and that wasn't on a meter so i'm pleased with that as it had my watering system on it as well.

Mollie, I would never sell anything i grow, i just do it for the satisfaction.

Thought Farrah would go if they had a choice.

(watched it this morning)

Lucky your O/H could work from home and keep away from the M4

Emptybox, you rally need to look into your condition more, maybe if you spoke to the ones that understand about these things they may know what is up.

I don't think your meds is correct for your needs, you need to write down what is going on each day so you can recall it when the time comes.

Not sure what the Ibuprofen & Paracetamol is supposed to do?

The little ones only eat half of the cucumber if it's big, if it's small they eat it all.

Another computer with win10, great, i wouldn't bother about the 4th if the hardware is too old, just leave it as it is.

Got saltfish for brekkei, haven't had that for a bit.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

glad to hear you are currently up to date work wise, that bit of dry weather we have just had makes all the difference to you, I guess.

I am sorry to hear your health problems are still an issue. I think as Hicky suggests a type of diary would be useful to see if there is any pattern as to when the ups and downs occur. Could it be set off with difference in fluid intakes, eg you don't have time to drink as much water when working? Or when you sweat more in hot weather? Or diet perhaps?

Yes I am sure you don't like taking all these tablets, but if needs must, and it means a panfree night's sleep then best to take something. Hope it improves again soon.

You have got a lot of computers, but handy your old one still works to play music.

Yes Farah did seem to act a bit better in the end, but I didn't see her on BBOTS.

Hicky

Glad you too got a good day weathe wise.

Very handy you get to start your new tv licence now, my mum gets one too.

Interesting what you say about liking a water meter, we didn't have one in our last house, but have one here and hate it, because our bills have gone up. Whilst we don't waste water, metres do not suit big families, especially with all the washing we have with my mum's daily sheets to do as well as our own.

Bet you enjoyed your salt fish for brekkie, Me and OH went out to cafe for brekkie today.

Went down seafront today (can't go into Cardiff as packed with people this weekend due to rugby), and it was a rockability festival, so sat outside and listened to the old rockablily style music. People around dressed in 50's gear, they had a big tent selling this memorabila stuff too. Good job weather was nice.

Gosh CBB doesn't start till 10.30pm far too late for me, will record it.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening.

Nice day here. Quite warm sunshine this afternoon.

Got a job done, and also got my own grass cut.

Pleased you get a free TV licence Hicky.

And it's great your water bill is cheaper at your new place, even with your watering system.

I get my water free, as it's a private supply from the farm......just sayin'

The trouble with my condition, is no-one really knows what causes it, and there's no real cure. All they can do with medication is try to control it.

Tamsulosin is the prescription meds that I take. That its supposed to calm down the prostate and make it easier to pee.

Ibuprofen is a painkiller and anti inflammatory - it's inflammation of the prostate that is the problem.

Paracetomol is another painkiller and also stops any fever type symptoms (I was getting night sweats in the beginning). It also seems to calm me down and lets me get better sleep.

Don't think I'm doing anything different to when I was more stable, so don't know why I'm not so good now?

Mollie, certainly if I'm working and sweating I can go longer without needing a pee. But it's not good if I get over-heated. Think I'm always worse when sitting around in the house.

No I'm not bothering to try to upgrade the oldest computer. There's XP on it, but I boot it up to a lightweight Linux that runs smoothly on it, even though it's only got 512MB RAM.

A Rockabilly festival Mollie?. Did you know that was going on, or was it a surprise? It's always great to come across those things by accident.

The new Doctor Who series started tonight, and Downton starts tomorrow.

The Autumn schedule has definitely arrived.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A dull day here, thought we might get some sun, dry though.

O/H's birthday so downloaded and printer her a card.

My lad and his lot came with a couple of pressies for her.

Mollie, I still don't understand how we can use as much water as they say anyway, but with it being quite cheap i am happy.

Glad it was good enough to go to the seafront, Rockability, wow, sounds good.

Emptybox, The free TV licence has to be applied for, thought it was when you reached 76 but it's from 75, was hoping for more rebate than i got.

Thats handy getting your water free, our water is pretty cheap but they charge more to get rid of it, but a lot of what we use doesn't go back into their system as it goes to the trees.

I was taking Tamsolosin for my prostate before the op, it didn't do anything at all, it's supposed to relax it, but mine was closed so it did nothing.

I was told that as you get older the prostate gets enlarged, as it gets enlarged the centre hole closes, thats what happened to mine and with it being deadened during the hip op it failed to respond after that.

Are you drinking Decaf tea or coffee, that may help.

X-Factor now.

Strange about the F1, no idea what has happened to the cars of Hamilton, Roseburg in Singapore, it is a nasty track with 4 90deg bends, not good for racing.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Not too bad today, but rain this evening.

At least you remembered a card for your OH this year, even if you printed it out yourself.

I think the Tamsulosin was helping to begin with, when I first came off anti-biotics, but it doesn't seem so effective now. I could always try a higher dose I suppose, but I'd need to see the doc first.

I don't take any caffeine now. Mostly just drink herbal teas and coffee substitutes with naturally no caffeine. Not sure if they make a difference.

I was told my prostate was slightly enlarged, but no more than is normal at my age. Of course that was nearly a year ago, so it might have changed.

Haven't heard anything about the F1 race.

I guess it might be worth going back to the docs if your symptoms start to go downhill, but don't improve after a while? Can you try a different type of medication? Or is increasing the one you have the only option?

Glad you got weather good enough to do your own grass, hope you got out to do some work today. Has leaf clearing started yet? Not many fallen leaves here yet. That is lucky you actually get free water.  Not many things we get for free now.

Hicky

Hope your OH had a nice birthday. Did you have a special meal? That is good you managed to make her a card, and she got some pressies and a visit from the family.

My son was playing at a Cosplay event in town yesterday, so we spent most of the day there. His band were one of the last, so it was a long wait, didn't mind because weather was fine, and we got to see the other acts.

Mum due soon, then I look after her till bedtime.

Was pouring down this morning, got soaked walking to and from bus stop as had to go to Asda for milk.

Brighter now though.

have a good day. xxx

M

Good Evening Both.

Rain here till lunchtime, plenty of cloud little sun.

MIL & O/H's sister came, had some Raspberries and an Asian Pear, gave her some onions to take home.

Emptybox, that should help, not taking Caffeine, you can only see the doc if things don't seem right.

I can't think what else could be the problem apart from the prostate as it controls most if not all the waterworks.

I never used to think it played such an important role.

Mollie, Birthday went fine, didn't have special meal unless you call KFC special.

It's not much fun when you have to wait a long time for your son to play, but no option i suppose.

You shouldn't go out in the rain without the right clothing.

Hicky

Hi guys.

Wet here most of the day. The sun came out about 3pm, but everything was too wet to go out then.

Got my new customer again tomorrow.

Hi Mollie. Think the Tamsulosin is thought of as the best medication really. There's other meds for reducing the size of the prostate, but I don't think that's my problem. It's inflammation.

Some find the Tansulosin does no good for them and just use Ibuprofen when they are bad.

I agree Hicky. I don't understand how the little prostate can have such wide ranging effects, but it does.

Don't usually do much leaf clearing Mollie, apart from sometimes at one place, if the wind hasn't blown them into a corner.

The last few times I cut the grass it often picks up as many leaves as it cuts grass though.

It's good that your son's band gets to play at these events.

Didn't know what "Cosplay" was so googled it, and came up with a page of pics of girls in strange costumes. Not sure if that's what your event was?

emptybox

Good morning both

Emptybox

hope it is dry today for your new customer. Is your gardening equipment all holding it together at the moment?

So if your condition is probably due to inflammation, at least ibuprofen is known to ease that. The hospital told me when daughter had tooth abscess it was good for inflammatiion. So shouldn't do you any harm to take at night, as needed? Did your doc advise ibuprofen too? I think you are supposed to take with food though, as it can give stomach upsets I think.

Yes Cosplay is big with a lot of young people, they dress up as their fave cartoon characters. They have events worldwide, very popular in the States and Japan. My kids go each year to a big one held in Birmingham, it was only a new small one here that we went to. The costumes in B'ham one are amazing.

They are called Comic-con exhibitions.

Hicky

hope it is dry enough for you to get into garden today.

Bet your MIL and SIL were pleased with their food gifts.

have got to look after mum this afternoon, but OH working late and can't take her home, so have to get 2 buses over there so won't be home much today.

Good job daughter makes my tea for me as it is so late when I get home.

at Austin's outburst last night. What a nasty mouth he has on him. Those American's on the show really are OTT.

Does it finish this Friday?

was raining earlier but cleared up, thank goodness, hate going on bus when pouring.

have a good day xxx

M

Evening Both.

Not a bad day, had some rain this morning but it cleared up.

Went out for brekkie to Burley Dam, made a big Apple Crumble with some big apples MIL brought back for a relations in Suffolk.

Gave a big bag full to next door.

Have ordered covers for the 4 off 5ft 3 seater benches.

Emptybox, the Tamsulosin is supposed to relax the prostate so it doesn't close so tight, but i suppose it depends on the state of the prostate.

Mollie, not a lot to do in the garden at this time of the year, biggest job will be picking up leaves, when there are enough i'll try my big vac machine.

Relation didn't come this week to render the outside of the bungalow as he said it's a bit wet he'll come next week.

Have joined the Postcode Lottery today, see how that goes.

A lot of travelling to look after your Mum, nice having your daughter to make some tea for you.

Just made a roast dinner, a boned leg of lamb, with apple crumble and custard for afters.

Think Austin is a pain, don't like him at all, don't like him chasing James either.

Isn't the Final Thursday, not sure what day it is, as you say, probably Friday.

Hicky

Evening guys.

Nice sunny morning but the rain came on about 2pm and curtailed my activities.

Got my new customer done at least.

Think they've got me there under a bit of false pretences really.

Got a text yesterday saying that they'd cut most of the rest of their hedges themselves. When I arrived there was a bit of hedge left to cut, but before I could start doing that the Father-in-law arrived and said they didn't want me to do that as they were getting one of the tractor hedgecutters from the farm to do it.

So I did a couple of hours of weeding, but there's not much left for me to do.

There's some strimming, but that won't take very long.

So I think they haven't really thought out what they want me to do.

I don't take Ibuprofen very often Mollie, only when I get some pain, and I try to take it with food, as you say.

The doc didn't advise it as such, but I've read that it helps ease things.

I usually take paracetomol at night. Seems to help.

Must be a lot of work, taking your Mum on the bus. Specially if you have to get off one and onto another.

CBB final is on Thursday.

Hi Hicky. Hope you enjoyed your brekkie at Burley Dam?

Apple crumble sounds good. I guess you need cooking apples for that? Are all your eaters?

Pity it was too wet for your relative to start on the rendering.

I think the Tamsulosin does work to an extent, because when I experimented with cutting it down to one every second day, my symptoms definitely got worse. But it doesn't completely control it, as I still get plenty of symptoms.

Can't believe Janice went ahead of Austin. I thought she'd be one of the favourites to win?

Big row on BOTS between Farrah and Aisleyne.

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad day here.

Tried out the Leaf Vac, had to block one of the nozzles as it was blowing a bit, the main large nozzle does the vac, it picked up the leaves no problem and chopped them into bits somehow.

Tried the garden shredder as well, got some cuttings off next door to try it, not problem, it chops everything into minute bits.

Made a mixed grill for tea with a baked apple and cream for afters.

My 4 covers came for the 3 seater benches outside, tried one cover, great, and for ÂĢ7.19 delivered each it's very good.

strange they are cutting their own hedge, maybe they haven't got much money.

All my Apples are eaters, but am getting a cooker delivered November, a Bramley Apple, with more trees, of course.

I'm wondering if i can put insect netting around the fruit trees after the flowers have been pollinated and drop off instead of putting bags on the fruit.

I'll look into it.

If you think the Tamsulosin is working then keep taking it, not sure if you can take a higher dose, doubt it.

Yes, Aisleyne and Farrah sure did clash.

Hicky

glad your shredder and leaf vac seem to be just the job.

Your seat covers sound a bargain, what colour are they?

Where did you order them from?

Thanks for the link, I didn't see this, as I don't watch BBOTS.

Now I do wonder if this is the last time Ais gets invited on that show? She made a real show of herself last time. And I guess the Americans won't be around much longer, so won't go back on again anyway.

Emptybox

Your new customers sound a bit of a puzzle. Do they pay you by the hour, so as Hicky says, maybe they are trying to save money ?

Such a shame you get symptoms even with the meds. So hard for you to work out what it is best to take and when, I am sure. The trouble is that it is trial and error trying to sort out what meds your body needs and when, let alone trying to work out what effects food/caffeine have too. Hopefully with time, you will find something that works best for you to relieve your symptoms.

I too am surprised Janice went ahead of Austin and disppointed too, as I find Austin irritating.

So now it is time to decide who wins. Probably Sherrie is my choice. Don't think this CBB has been one of the better ones.

Got food from Lidl again, find it much cheaper than the other supermarkets now, but also good quality food. (and I like the clothes too).

Then caught bus to mum's flat to look after her till carers came to put her to bed. Daughter had made me nice tea when I got home.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening.

Cloudy day with occasional drizzle, but I got quite a lot done.

I think the customer saw that I wasn't really set up to cut these very high hedges (as I'd explained to them from the start). Perhaps they thought I'd whisk through them on one visit? Or perhaps they weren't very impressed with my cutters breaking down on the first visit?

But they are a farm, and have a tractor with a hedge cutting attachment, that can do the outside and top of the hedge very quickly, so I don't think they'd thought it through.

On my second visit I found they'd tied a board to a long ladder to stop it digging in when laid against the hedge. If they'd provided that for me on my first visit I'd have got on better. Instead they expected me to work with a shoogly tall step ladder on uneven ground, which is a non-starter really.

Yes the fight on BOTS got very nasty, with Farrah seemingly throwing two glasses at Aisleyne, one of which hit Vicki Michelle on the head. Plus Janice seemingly tried to fend Farrah off with a chair.

Aisleyne started it by throwing champagne over Farrah when Farrah called her a "hag".

Not sure if Aisleyne will ever be invited back on, but BOTS specifically invited her on at the same time as Farrah knowing full well there'd be fireworks.

And seemingly the viewing figures for last night's show was higher than previous ones..............

At the moment I'm taking one tablet of Tamsulosin a day. I could increase that to two a day, which might help the symptoms. But I'd really need to consult the doc to get my prescription changed.

Plus there are side effects. They make me feel dizzy at times, and give me a stuffed up nose at night, and those would likely increase if I took the higher dose.

Still, I've only had a few symptoms the last few days, so I'm thankful for that. but could get worse again any time (as the consultant warned).

Hi Hicky. Glad your garden seat covers came.

Sounds like you've been having fun with your shredder and leaf blower.

I find Lidl OK Mollie, but not much choice.

Mind you, as I've said, the one near me is relatively small.

It's good that your daughter is such a good cook. Takes the strain off you.

Natasha is my favourite for CBB. Very feisty and a natural beauty. Red-head as well.

Evening Both.

A nice day here really, had lunch out, Parkgate fish and chips with ice cream for afters.

Ordered the Raspberry collection and Gooseberry collection, and some carrot seeds.

Ordered the Polycarbonate sheet for the Gazebo as well.

Mollie, these are the seat covers:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/QUALIT...covers+for+furniture

Don't think Ais will be invited back to Bots now.

I was surprised Austin didn't go, don't like him at all.

It's nice having Daughter to make you a meal for when you get in.

Emptybox, It wasn't a good idea to try and trim the high hedge off a ladder with nothing to spread the load on the hedge.

Didn't realise Farrah hurled glasses at Ais.

This Shredder & Vac only cost ÂĢ100 for the 2.

The Shredder can handle 45mm branches which is good, it's awkward if the cuttings are small or thin as you have to poke them into the machine with the tool provided whereas a branch is easy.

My O/H doesn't like Lidl as she says she doesn't know where the food has come from.

Hicky

Emptybox

that new customer sounds a bit odd, and not sure what he wants of you.

I guess that is good if you only have a few symptoms whilst taking just one tablet, as those side effects from this medication don't sound pleasant. I can see why you take ibuprofen and paracetomol as a back up, especially as ibuprofen helps inflammation.

Yes Natasha has been one of the best HM's this series. (and attractive too, as I suspect you already noticed). I take it you are rather partial to red heads then?

Hicky

fish and chips followed by ice cream, what a nice treat out.

Gosh those seat covers are a bargain.

and the shredder and vac sounds good for the price, I am sure you will make good use of them.

Hadn't thought where food from Lidl comes from. I know they focus on a different country each week, Greece this week I think. I like their bakery though and that comes from the back of the shop. Lovely pizza roll with goats cheese if my fave.

Final tonight then, seems strange to finish on a Thursday, when a Friday is normally their finally day. Maybe they didn't want to clash with Gogglebox?

I love Gogglebox.

Not been a bad day here today, my usual day of lots of washing, bit of paperwork, housework and looking after mum.

Fingers crossed weather good for the weekend, it is the Elvis festival in the little town mum lives (and where we used to live), and we are going there. The young carer is taking mum Saturday and I take her Sunday.

They were talking about it on ITV's "This Morning" today. They are expecting around 35,000 people.

Hope we can find some good tv to watch now CBB is over.

Goodnight both xx

M

Evening Mollie and Hicky.

Mostly sunny today, but chilly at times. I think 14 C at most. Autumn bodywarmer weather.

Got some jobs done, but the grass stays damp into the afternoon now. Soon be stopping growing.

Hi Hicky. Glad you enjoyed your fish & chips lunch.

The shredder and vac sounds like they've been a good value buy.

No I don't like doing high hedges without the right equipment, and my van will only accommodate a shorter step ladder (no roof rack), so that's why I don't usually take on those jobs.

So in a way I'm pleased the customer has done them, but as they are doing their own grass as well, it doesn't leave much for me to do.I'll probably end up only going every now and again.

Hi Mollie.

Yes there's something about a red head. I think it's the hair?

Elvis festival time again eh? That's come round quick.

Wish Natasha had won CBB. But it was quite a good final I guess.

I've got loads of recordings to catch up on now, as I hardly watch anything else while BB is on.
