Sorry to hear you have nasties on your PC Blizzie.
Do you mean the Webroot Antivirus is thew culprit?
Or do you mean Webroot Antivirus has detected them?
I have used Webroot Spyware for a number of years and I like it very much.
But I have not used tha Antivirus option which they provide.
I have never had a problem with Webroot.
Good luck with sorting it.

I think the nasties crept in while I uninstalled the last version, to put the new version on, which it insisted I had to do, while also telling me not to. I also like Webroot, but I've done two scans now and it hasn't picked these up.

Basically, anytime I put anything into a search engine, it redirects me to something else entirely.
I even had a page full of porn, at one stage, so I'm keeping the kids off there!

Blizzie, I would suggest using the links that Prometheus has provided.

Is it possible that you got a warning when visiting some site and you got a warning message saying that a virus had been found on your computer and inviting you to download antivirus software? It's quite common for crooks to use this as a device for fooling people into thinking that there's a problem, so downloading software which is in fact harmful and infects your pc with viruses or malware.
I sometimes get a warning message saying that there's a virus on my pc, but I know full well that as I keep my antivirus s/w and my firewall on and upto date, that it's not a genuine warning. If it was a genuine warning then the message would carry my a/v provider's logo on it.

Blizzie I had one of those type thingies last year, it drove me mental. I knew it was a scam so no way would buy their crap.
I got rid of it by pretending I wanted to buy it then clicking on a link set up for people who had problems when trying to pay for it! That directed me to a contact us page.
I savaged them in no uncertain terms, threatened all sorts etc. They replied within an hour, apologising and telling me that it was a time limited thing that would expire in 14 days and that if I set the date on my PC forward by two weeks that would get rid of it - I could then reset the date on my pc.
I did this (not actually trusting them) and it worked which allowed me to download all the free stuff others have mentioned which ensured it did get off my pc. I then reset the date.

My friend actually paid ÂĢ50 for this software - then came into work the next day and told us about her 'luck' that the anti-virus message had come up and she was able to pay for the software. When we told her it was a scam she had to close her bank account ... she did contact the company and fair play, they did refund her money

I managed to get in here and can actually post!

Thanks to everyone for your help. *kissy smiley*

I've tried downloading Prom's suggested sites, but can't do anything. My Webroot won't even run a scan. I hate people who make these nasty things. I hope they get what's coming to them, one day!

Anyway, I have somehow got in, so I'm going to make the most of it, while I can.
Thank again.

Good to see you Blizzie.
Sorry to hear you are not yet completely rid of the nasties.
I agree with you about the utter nastiness of those who devise these unpleasant things and deliberately infect other people's computers.
But I hope you can soon completely clear it out and appear before us all pristine and virginal once again.

I see you`ve got your  back Blizzie.
At the moment, I can do everything, but in five minutes time, it could all go again!

I've been on Dame Ann's link ( for her, while I can), but everything I download needs my antivirus thingummy disabled and it won't let me do that.
Whoever wrote this spyware is an evil bloody genius!!

Latest news, my computer  is dead and I am on one of those stupid little Acer barsteward  things that do whatever they want and ignore the user. I might throw it at the wall, in a minute.

I got very excited, as I actually managed to get a scan going, but the next morning it was worse than ever and then it wouldn't do anything.

You're going to need someone with the right removal tools and who knows how to delete everything in your registry, what a bloody pain. I once got talked through it with a mate on the phone, but wouldn't  have a clue where to start Blizzie.
