I've got a week off work this week (great weather, lucky me).  Anyway, I had a not-so-good day on Sunday down at the rip off that is Wembley Stadium.  In my opinion the FA should hang their heads in shame at so blatantly ripping people off.  £5.80 for a cheeseburger that consisted of an anaemic looking bun, a cheese slice and a gristle-laden burger than my son forced down because he was hungry, throwing about £1.50 of it away because it was so unpalatable.  £1.20 for a Mars bar.  £4.30 for a bottle of Carlsberg lager.  Okay, so if we hadn't lost 5-0 then maybe the cost of all these things might have been worth it but when you're on the losing side it just rubs salt into the wound!

Then yesterday I had a day out in Blackpool.  Eight hours parking costs £9.00.  Another rip off because they then expect you to go and spend your hard earned cash in their town - the least they could do is have reasonably priced parking like they always used to.

I'm on a mission this week as I'm out and about to find the worst rip off but I think it will be hard to top that cheeseburger.

That cheeseburger is gonna be hard to beat!  After the match several fans rang a radio phone in and had exactly the same complaints Bolton Fan.  They have a captive audience at Wembley and for that very reason they should put controls on the franchise sellers.

I know, it's a nightmare. I remember taking my 2 sons to Legoland a few years ago for the day and spending about the same amount as a week away on the Med for the four of us. The smart ones there were lugging around picnic baskets and huge cooler boxes.

Even just going to the cinema or bowling can cost around £50..

My husband has told me the same thing about Wembley being so shoddy when he's taken our boys there. The one time I went for an FA Cup semi was when a friend sorted us out with corporate tickets and we had canapes and champagne in the box.

That there is exactly why mr summer binned off his season ticket after 17 years! He didn't want to give the football club another penny of his hard earned cash, they do treat the fans like poop!

Thats another thing - £27.00 for a maxium of three hours parking.  Okay, so as I said before, you win and you don't care because you've enjoyed it - only hope you feel the same after the final MrMincePie!

I didnt bother buying anything inside the ground, the service was shocking apparently... they took way too long and thousands had missed the goal. There were loads of people just getting back into their seat because it took ages to get something to eat. I knew Wembley was expensive before I went, I rather it was played in a neutral ground up north. Final should be a wembley, still... the win does make it sweet.

Isn't that because Wembley ran so much over budget, and they have to get the money back somehow?  I think it's fair to say that most fans think that the semis shouldn't be held at Wembley, even those of smaller clubs.

I'll go if Norwich get to the play off finals, never been there before.  Last time Norwich played at Wembley was in 1985.

That's the thing, I did take packed food but we set off so early in the morning and didn't leave until 7pm so you have no choice really - plus you are not allowed to take any food or drink into the stadium, even bottles of water so its quite obvious they fully intend getting every possible penny out of you that they can

Bolton Fan

I'm probably sounding naive and I haven't been to Wembley since Argyle played Darlington for the play offs, but can't you at least take your own food and save a bit of money that way. I agree it's all too expensive, but the Wembley experience is great. My son came to live, never mind being a typical teenager, he was doing the Mexican Wave with the best of them.

You could buy two chickens for that!

I don't understand why anyone who paid good money for a gig ticket or football ticket would want to leave to eat

If you knew you were going wouldn't you eat beforehand so you didn't miss a thing?

I was also at Wembley for the Plymouth v Darlo playoff! Plus several others. However I won 't be going this year. We are treating ourselves and going to Hull on Saturday. Mrs Jer is going and thus we can be sure of a good supply of sandwiches, chicken wraps, hard boiled eggs, and drinks.

but it's the same at the 02 in Greenwich, burger & chips £8, £3 for a small bottle of coke,  and this was back in 2009, I'd imagine it gone up since.

for the cinema it might be, It'sthe arena thats the rip off. Is the cinema a Vue ?

One of the cinemas there I read had the Russell Brand premier last night, and Justin Bieber last month. One thing that work for the 02 Cinema is the free parking if your using the cinema.

You can't take food or drink in wembley and they search you on the way in. Went there for FA semi in 2008.  Best idea eat before you go in and just buy a drink to share between the group semi's shouldn't be there anyway it should be for the final.

I've always taken food and drink into Wembley, not alcohol, but plastic bottles of Orange or cartons. I always thought they were searching for glass objects. The only limit last time was the size of the ruck sack,

I meant the cinema near saindbity bot the one in there ..,I've never been to the cinema in the o2...I think cineworld up your way is a rip off too. I don't think the prices at the o2 are bad in comparison. As for the parking there though, have a taxi and park for free at the station on the rank

Really we were all told no food or drink is allowed in 2008 and had heard stories about people having to give it up before going in. The searches are for banned goods such as guns/knives or other weapons but naturally other banned goods like food or drink are or at least were incuded.

Not at wembley but I once went into hillsbough with a bottle of coke (plastic) they let me in with it but took the bottle top off me. So now I jake a spare just in case.

neil3842

Oh they let me in with the bottle just not the top. I suppose it is to stop it being hard if thrown. But I take it to drink not to throw. Reason for spare top is you can't put a open bottle in your pocket.
