You may be aware that HMRC intend anyone who does tax returns who has income over ÂĢ10k a year other than bank interest, wages and pensions to have to file online digital account data every 3 months as from April 2018. This will mean that there won't any need for tax returns to be done each year. So the majority of self employed people and many people who let property will have to do this. Income means the sales income/gross rental income rather than the level of profit.

Yesterday they published 6 consultations on this asking for people to respond to them by 7 November,

As these changes are the biggest ever in the history of tax and will have major impact on you in terms of increased admin time or costs if you get someone to do it for you it's advisable to have a look at these consultations and to make a response to HMRC. If you have an accountant discuss it with them.
