anybody gonna do it?

i reckon we should

and i reckon a group of us doing it means we can manage it...encouragment...support etc...

cos to be very honest i like my booze & i'd find it annoying/hard/difficult to give up for a month

but i'll give it a go

will YOU?

ideal thing is that if everyone who wants to have a go puts their name down

and

a nice admin

makes a sticky post starting 1st sept & we can all see how we're doing

its a cancer research idea but i reckon if you put money aside for the times  you usually drink, save it & donate it where you see fit or just save it-its up to you

so shall we give it a go?

and

bump this post cos i think its a great way to give up-donate-save

i fank yew

Can I ask Pirate, is this something you are doing purely for charity or do you see reducing alcohol intake as a longer term goal?

As for me I am as close as you can get to a teetotaller not drinking for many weeks on end, last week being an exception, but over the entire evening I drank only 3 pints.

It's highly likely that I would not have the opportunity to go out and drink anyway in September and I don't have it in the house.

But good luck to all those giving it a go.

I don't drink so I can't join you, Pirate, but I wish you luck.

give up your favourite thing! and no rooood replies please lol

I'm on a diet so have already given up all my favourite foods!

How about I don't buy any of the things I'm normally tempted to buy (such as Kindle books frrom Amazon or other stuff from Groupon) and I'll put the money I save to charity?

Good luck Pirate I don't drink much, but can't join in anyway because I've got a holiday and a rare child free weekend get together with my bestie this month.

However, I always give up naughty foods in October & November so know how much of a challenge it is. Therefore, I would be happy to make a donation to your charity choice

Well. I was doing very well at home, but I'm in New York for meetings, and have fallen off the wagon!

I'll get back on it, though!

This is a little cheeky request from me. If you ever get the odd opportunity to take photos in NY, photos of things we (Brits) would not normally get to see and post them in the 365 thread, then that would be great.

If you are a busy person and it's not something you usually get time to do then no problem, just thought I would cheekily ask.

Good! And I just made my donation to the Alzheimer's Association, in honor of my grandpa, who died of Alzheimer's-related causes about 30 years ago.

Well done Lori, good choice and one I donate to and support. My Dad died of the same thing a few years ago.

I'm sorry, EC. That can't have been easy.

I lost my dad to Lewy Body Dementia 2 years ago this month.
