Britains Youngest Boarders on the telly last night?
It was about a small prep school in Surrey, which seemed nice enough, but £16,000 a year to send a child there? And their priority is to get them ready for the top Public Schools ie Eton and Harrow.
I felt so sorry for the little ones getting used to living without their parents (one pupil's parents live in Shanghai so he couldn't even get to see them at weekends).

I saw it. Didnt like it much, i felt those children in a way were being robbed of their childhood. They didnt seem to have much fun. 8yrs old is very young to be away from home.

I saw it too - quite heartbreaking when that boy broke down on the phone to his dad

I can't help thinking what that one mother was insulted by - what can a school provide that a loving family can't?
And to pay 16 grand for the privilege,,,

I didn't see it but I don't like the idea of small children being away from their parents like that - unless of course the home life is violent or dysfunctional etc.

My DIL's parents live in Oman but she was sent to Cheltenham Ladies at 13 - she had a first rate education but there are disadvantages. She says she would never send my grandson (or the baby she's expecting now) to boarding school
