Are you hiring a car? if so then you can get almost anywhere on the island..... but Paphos is nice for the ruins etc and lovely harbour/beach...... or you can go into the mountains......or Nicosia.......

Tripadvisor sent us to that Indian restaurant!

......mind you there is David's - so it's a 50/50

The restaurant was fine...it was the owner sitting on our laps I wasn't keen on   David's makes up for it

I think Mr Hoochie will like some of the places to visit

I was watching King of Queens Saturday night and had a real strong urge to be there, was so close to just going on-line and booking a ticket to JFK,not a sun holiday at this time of year but I love New York..

TBH rexi that was the thinking behind booking this holiday .... we just wanted a break that wasn't going to cost too much.  I have to admit that I'm getting quite excited about Cyprus now with all of the positive responses on here

If it's ancient and ruined  he'll be there........ I may, or may not

I'm sure you'll have a lovely time

*see how I skipped the first ruin comment*

....are you ill or do you want something?

We did  Cyprus last year for my 40th.  Hotel and everything was lovely (NO KIDS ALLOWED).  We did a couple of trips, one being 'simply Cyprus', under no circumstances do that trip, it's hours and hours and hours on a bus.

But if you get offered the adults only (and it'snot sexy) Katamaran trip from Paphos it's well worth the money.  We had a great day.

it's my 50th this year - and it's on my list

Hoochie and Rexi you MUST go to NYC,it's a once there you have to return place.I love the atmosphere, love the sights but ADORE the shopping.Go prepared though, take nothing but the bare essentials leave plenty of case  space and the opportunity to buy clothes to wear there.*Has a yearning for a Cinnabon*

I love Cyprus. My late husband and I went 3 times and we used to stay at the Penera Beach hotel,Protaras. We traveled all over the Island by car,but usually made sure we were back at base by the evening as the roads weren't up to scratch. Hopefully they are better now.

We went on a mini cruise to Israel and Egypt, that was fantastic, but, I don't know if that is feasible now what with all the bother in that part of the world.

You will love it Hoochie, Cyprus has something for everyone. Have a really good time, can't wait for you to come back and tell us about your adventures.

The divided city of Nicosia is interesting and well worth a visit, in my opinion.  While we were there they had just opened up the border and we we able to cross from the Greek side to the Turkish side, passing through the UN patrolled 'no-man's land' (which is quite strange in itself as it has remained untouched since the war in the 1970s (?) and you can still see the boarded up hotels etc with the sandbags and bullet holes.  We went two or three years back so things may have changed since then.
