What are we going to do when they phase out cheques?

I have to admit I rarely use them now.I can't remember the last time I used one.
I only use them to pay workmen to come to the house.
I used one to buy my new passport.. But that's it, the book sits there unused, poor thing
I wonder what the dictionary definition of "cheque" will be in 20 years from now
I can't remember the last time I used one but that's because a lot of places don't seem to want you to produce one 
I dislike having to give out my bank details for someone to do a bacs credit rather than send me a cheque

As I work for myself I regularly use cheques to pay suppliers and am paid by cheque by many of my clients. The payment to me by by clients is important as cash would be unsafe due to the value of some of my cheques. I don't have anough clients to make it economic to use a credit card machine. Some of my clients do pay me online, but many of them don't use computers. And there are many small businesses such as myself where cheques are essential which is why the Federation of Small Businesses is against cheques being abolished.
I get paid by cheque 
I don't use them all that much but am fizzing about this. Just another example of the banks
wanting more and more profit for less and less work.
