Serious question.....

Has anyone ever bought sunglasses for their dog?

My dog (Pops) has diabetes and it's given her severe cataracts which we suspect are causing her discomfort when she goes for walkies on a sunny day.

She loves her walks, gets ridiculously excited when she "sees" (ok, hears) her lead, but once we get outside she walks sooooo slow and looks like she's in major discomfort. She's absolutely fine when she's inside and also fine on shady days outside....so although it's still up for discussion, we're assuming the sun is the issue?

Soooooo......does anyone have any experience with doggy sunglasses? I know you can buy them, but do they work, is she likely to accept wearing them, and how do I convince my son to be seen out in public with me and a spaniel that thinks it's Michael Jackson?

I ain't getting up before dawn for morning walkies though

I'm sure the likes of Scatts, Yogi and Pirate will have some ideas when they are next in the forum

Have you tried Can C eye drops? or Bright Eyes? - apparently they work to improve vision de generation and has been quite successful.

I took her for a walk last night just before bed and she was like a little spring lamb! So there are a pair of doggy sunglasses winging their way to me as we speak.

She might not take to them... but the photos will be SPECTACULAR!

We do have a perfect shady wood a few minutes drive away, so that's definitely an option.

Her favourite place to go is a total sun trap though, so I'm really hoping she will be cooperative with the glasses. I may have to train her to love them.... *stocks up on treats*
