I wish I knew a good pooter guy - my lappy top (screen) is hanging off at one side.  It's been repaired 4 times under warranty - the first 3 days after I got it.   it's out of warranty now and like Syds, is menopausal   it doesn't close properly but I can't afford to get another 

To answer your question I'd go with a new pooter and get your stuff transferred.  It's a buga that the other guy shafted you 

Can't help with the pc whizz in London Peter but you should be able to write off the cost of a new pc and maintenance etc for it as an expense of the business as you need your pc in order to run your business effectively.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. I am in the industry myself and pretty annoyed when people do that kind of thing - I assure you we are not all bad.

I'm up here in Yorkshire so anyone I know is a bit too far away. We have local forums which are great for finding the type of help you require, do you have such forums in your area?

If you are not successful, I would opt for buying a new one and then selling all your other parts on-line to recoup some cash.
