Slim, a couple of films I spotted on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week.

On Wednesday morning at 11.05 is "The Devil's Disciple" (1959). It was based on a play by George Bernard Shaw relating to the American War of Independence. Leads are Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster and Laurence Olivier, Film should have been better than it is, has been described as stodgy.

On Friday morning at 10.30 is "Storm in a Teacup" (1937). A romantic comedy set in Scotland and stars Vivien Leigh and Rex Harrison. That looks a lot more promising than the first film.

With three big ego's in the first film, I'm not surprised it's described as stodgy, looking at the plot I'd describe it as depressing...so I'll give that one a miss

I quite like the sound of the second film though...a village of dogs barking in protest sounds like fun

Thank you El

I've got an old film book which reviews all British sound films up to the end of the 1950s. "Storm in a Teacup" is rated 5 out of 6 which is a good sign
