Ah okay

I've never had a go on an Atari.
From memory, we went from a Spectrum to the desktop computer, plus Nintendo and Playstation gaming consoles.
As you can imagine, having a large family, we went through a lot of games

I went through various versions of Atari 8 bit computers, them moved on to various versions of Atari 16 bit computers (which were closer to the early Apple computers). When I became self employed I realised that I would have to move on to pcs so as to be able to work on files I got from clients.  The first pc I got would have been Windows 3 and OOS.

The Atari 16 bit computers were quite powerful in their time. They came with a midi facility which made them popular with muscicians.

And, thisd was years ago, I was in the Gloucester market where they had photobooths. I passed on and saw that there was an engineer working on the computer in the photobooth's innards and recongnised it as an Atari 16 bit computer That's unlikely to be the case now as Atari ceased to be years ago (as a computer manufacturer).

I also had a spreadsheet for my Atari 16 bit computer and used to keep the church accounts on it when I was the church treasurer. So although I used it mainly for games it did have other uses.

Yeah, we did the same with the Spectrum, I think the QL was the last version bought....which is still in it's box, unused in the loft room. Late hubby was a bit of a collector.

There's now a Spectrum emulator which we will occasionally play on at home for a nostalgic giggle
I'm still just as rubbish

There have been emulators for the Atari though more for the old console games

@slimfern possible films on the Talking Pictures tv channel for you for the coming week:
Tuesday 10.00 am "The Golden Madonna" (1949) about a woman in an Italian village who gives away a painting then goes to great lengths to try to find it and get it back. It's an Ango/Italian production so a mix of British and Italian actors. Seems to be a pleasant drama. It was on the BFI's list of "75 most wanted films" as it had been thought lost.
Friday 13.50 "From Soup to Nuts" (1928) one of Laurel & Hardy;s silent shorts.

Sunday 19.00 "Innocent Sinners" (1958) Set in post-war London about a girl trying to build a garden. Amongst to adult cast are Flora Robson and David Kossoff. I haven't seen it before but it seems to be a gem of a film  One of the posts on imdb is "This the story of intertwined lives in postwar London, of faith, redeemed lives, of resilience, and of decency centered around a cocksure, yet sensitive young teenager. "

I will now prove to you that I'm a time traveller
My first post this morning (Good morning...) was posted at 09.39 GMT
I then went back in time and posted my second post (to Slimfern) at 09.09 GMT.

Or it might be something to do with the clocks changing at 2 am this morning in the States, and that affects the timings on posts made between 8 am to 8.59 and in this country making them appear an hour later than they were really posted

Quite charming El

My only criticism would be that the dairy maid had an Adam's apple
So maybe more forward thinking than you'd first thought

Thanks Slim

A rather unusual dairy maid - there's no information on imdb as to who portrayed that character.
A few years ago, a game was released for android phones called "Milkmaid of the Milky Way". Something about a milkmaid whose cows are taken in a spacecraft so she goes off to save them

Surprisingly, I've never heard of it
