Happy birthday to skylark's son I hope they're eating cake

Yogi I hope your car is fixed today, they've had it longer than I expected

Considering the damage that was done, I had expected it back within a few days.

Yogi - hope you're able to get the car back before the weather turns

Enjoy the rest of the day ye all

Hi Velvet.

Sensible move, on your part.

Insurance repairer called this afternoon. They're still waiting on a part, so it's looking more like Wednesday before I get my car back.

Sunny here at present. Snow is forecast for my area tonight though it may be sleet where I live as it's at low level.

Skylark, sounds as if yesterday went well

I hope Yogi has her mobile with her as we can then use the signal from that to locate her

I'll make sure I take my mobile into the cupboard with me.

Good morning everyone, foul weather again of course.  Similar forecast to yours tonight EL, possibility of snow but I am hoping it will just be sleet.  I am glad all went well at the weekend and yesterday Skylark.  Yogi good luck with the clearing out and watch out for spiders - one look at even a relatively small one and both my grandsons turn to jelly even if the poor spider is outdoors

Enjoy your day everyone, I'm off out in a bit and not looking forward to it at all.

I'm the same as your grandsons. If I see a spider, you'll hear my screams.

Aww, that's a shame, I love Foyle's War.

I agree. The series was cancelled a few years ago but fans campaigned to bring it back. This time it does sound that it won't be returning as Anthony Horowitz doesn't think there are any stories left to tell. (and Michael Kitchen is now 66 so he may have decided to retire)

All good things must come to an end, I suppose.

I'll just need to buy it on DVD, then I can watch it over and over again.

Squiggle, I like that silly picture

I was told this one on Sunday by one of the churchwardens:

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that the teller's name is Patricia Whack. So he says, "Ms. Whack, I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long holiday" Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says $30,000. The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's OK, he knows the bank manager. Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall. Bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says: "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. And he wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what the heck is this?" The bank manager looks back at her and says:"It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone !"

I'm back from the client and managed to avoid the rain. Many of the road surfaces in my area are not in that great a condition and if there is snow tonight, that won't help. The cost of repairing them is far above the money available for this, even after the grants obtained. I did see reference to costing the equivalent of 10 years worth of available money and that is to repair the roads as they are now, and wouldn't cover new damage over that time.

I mentioned the other day that I had bought some new Balanced for You meals from M&S to try out.

Yesterday's was "smoky BBQ pulled pork & potato wedges with creamy chipotle coleslaw". Very pleasant, the pork has been marinated in the BBQ sauce which has a fruity background taste. The chipotle in the coleslaw is a mild chili. There is also tumeric in the BBQ marinade and the coleslaw. So it is slightly spicy, fine for me, but squiggle needs to be aware.

Today's was similar - "peri peri chicken & potato wedges with corn on the cob". Pleasant, the peri peri is another chili, although it's mild, squiggle needs to be aware of this.

Thank you EL, I think I would be wary of trying those two dishes.  I too was fairly lucky with the weather although coming back, as the road climbed heavy snow started to fall, but as soon as the road descended I came out into bright sunshine, so an odd mixture today.

I went to see the doctor today as I have been left slightly deaf in one ear following a cold I had in November.  I tried olive oil and then Otex but nothing shifted it and the doc says there is a big plug of wax blocking the ear drum so I am having it syringed next week.

The sun is shining brightly now, makes a nice change.

I like the sound of the BBQ Pulled Pork, El, I might try that one.

I hope the syringing helps, Squiggle.

Mr Yogi had it done a couple of months ago, after I nagged him to see the doctor because I was constantly having to repeat everything I said. It has helped, although I definitely think he is going a little bit deaf.

Yogi19

Squiggle, the other 2 meals I bought for the next couple of days don't have any warnings for spicy content so should be safer for you. I'll let you know what I think once I've had them.

You were lucky to avoid that snow. There is snow forecast for my area tonight and tomorrow morning. Won't last but could cause problems for people going to work. I'm not expecting to need to go out then. A client is coming to see me but is very local.

I have had my ears syringed a couple of times over the years but not for quite a long time. You will find for a few hours afterwards that your hearing will be very sensitive. I found that I could hear the water going through the pipes in the kitchen which was a bit strange.

From your description, I think I'd prefer the pork too. I'll let you know once I've tried it.

I've finished clearing out the cupboard. I now have eight bin bags of rubbish/old stuff to take to the tip (I told you it was a big cupboard) and a mountain of stuff waiting to be shredded.

Guess what I found in a box at the very back of the cupboard? The Christmas table toppers and table cloths which I blamed Mr Yogi for throwing out when he cleared the loft. I'm going to have to come clean - but I shall chose my moment wisely!
