It was JSA day for my hubby too today.

When he first signed on a couple of months ago, the bloke down there told him they were swamped, and that normally on his fortnightly visits they would require proof of his job hunting... but given the current climate and their workload, they wouldn't be asking, cos they didn't have time.

He did then ask his JSA bloke about any jobs they had in, and he told my hubby he was prob better job hunting by himself (which to be fair, he is).

He was told though, that the average person signed on for 13 weeks before finding work.

yeah its been lowered to 14 and from next year to 10

Well their timing for this stinks!!! There are NO jobs at the moment.. none!!

And as for housing benefit... we are entitled to help with the mortgage for a year on JSA... do you reckon you have to reapply, but this time as part of JSA.

Bottom line is... you and little Aimee have to live!

Oh I so hear you.... I really do!!!

Never given us a penny, my ex, but took us to court for access, which he only partially won, cos he is not responsible parent.

Was told categorically, numerous times during the process that maintenance payments were not to be part of the case... the access case was purely about the childs best interests, not ours.

Was like...wtf? What do they think we need the money for!

Mad am proper mad for you Aimee!

Yes, we are lucky there too... but it does make you wonder what those that don't have that kind of support will do!

ooooooh... makes me so cross. Am lucky cos eldest has laughed him off... she outgrew him really. He still see's the boy though. Is a 'Dad' weekend coming up... Roll Eyes will mean I get up stressed and wound up... and it'll last most of the day.

Anyway... I really wish you all the best, there must be some support for you two.... as I suspect you know, there are all sorts of benefits and payments that you have to know where to ask for them...

Give CAB a ring

That'll be my ex then!!

He just makes sure he stays up all night the night before he has his assessemnt, and then gets signed off on the sick for "depression". He does NOT have depression.. is just a total waste of rations.

Oh, and when I was single with the kids... he still got more benefits that I got!

yeah... I couldn't have done it without them. Married now, and still taking money off them. One day I will look after them though, I am determined to.

me too, my dad turned up the other day and gave me the money i lost in benefits, he has just retired and i feel so bad still having to rely on my dad at my age, but he's been a dad to my girl more than her real dad has been Thumbs Up

My dad retired about 5 years ago. He put aside funds for me and the kids as part of his retirement plan (bless him). I still hate taking off him though, and one day it will give me great pleasure to give something back.

If I ever say that to him, he says I am a fantastic mum, and the kids are a credit to me, and them, and that gives him more pleasure than any money could.

Gotta love him. (even if he is a grumpy ol sod sometimes! Big Grin )

Oooh does this thread mean that I can have a rant?

I am studying for my MA but ( I think understandably) need part time work to put food on t' table etc.. and I'm overqualified?I know that but I do need to work?

On top of that. my CSA case (he hasn't paid a penny in years despite earning v. good money grr) has gone to debt enforcement - ie - we have all the powers but we still won't act, even though you have given us all the A*sehole's details. My last letter from the CSA was 28/04/08 and they won't return my calls

*screams*
