Yes Yogi, I remember that Beverley too.

Why on earth would anyone do this?  Be in a position of trust and care, and purposely kill vulnerable and sick people?  It beggars belief.. obviously osme deep rooted highly complicated psychological issue...

And remember Harold Shipman?!

I love psychology and have studied it, and people like this are fascinating case studies for the psychology world!

I disagree with the bit in bold.

These people do not want their crimes to be detected, so how could they be searching for headlines?

I think you have a point Blizzie, but someone like Roaul Moat (sp) thrived on the notoriety, but you may be right about the serial killer type folk.

I believe those with Munchausen by proxy don't want to be discovered. They enjoy the attention given to the child/victim by medical professionals, and delight in their ability to deceive said professionals.

Sad - and dangerous.

I know a girl who has munchausen syndrome by proxy. Shes the only girl i know that can take her kid to the doctors to get them diagnosed as epileptic and put on epilepsy pills that isnt epileptic. She also once took her daughter to to the docs for an eye test and left with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy or so she claimed. She has managed to get the eldest boy statemented as being autistic when there's nothing wrong with him how she manages it, i will never know.

It sounds funny, but im not joking. She has 4 kids and each of them have something 'seriously' wrong with them.  Its to the point where the grandparents of the kids are on the verge of calling social services on her.

I had to delete her off facebook, her daily hospital appointments and 'woe is me, give me attention, attention, attention, got all too much.

That serious? thats the tip of the iceberg. These kids have got illness lists as long as your arm. Me and my friend sat down one day and calculated how much money she must be receiving a month from the government for her various 'disabled' children, and it was a LOT! Although that is not the motive for her lies. She has married into a really rich family.

Its not just the kids, its her as well, She is always in hospital for 'potentially life threatening ailments'.  We think her husband knows but turns a blind eye. Recently his mother (her mother in law) broached the subject with him (when the said girl was admitted for a suspected stroke but was placed in the mental health ward ) and said "maybe there is nothing wrong physically but something wrong with her, maybe she needs to be in hospital". His reply was " Well yes but even in that case, she needs to be looked at by a doctor". Then it was all swept under the carpet. Sweep, sweep, SWEEP

TBH I wouldn't get involved in reporting her, shes not that close to me. And you cant report her for fraudulent benefit claims as in the eyes of the law her claims are legitimate. Her child does have autism on paper, Eldest daughter does have epilepsy on record etc (how I WILL NEVER KNOW). I know many people who struggle to get extra help via statementing with children who clearly have something wrong with them, but she knows how to get what she wants. She knows how to say the right things at the right time to reach diagnosis, im sure of it. Just shows how cunning and clever she, and I imagine people like her, can be.

I knew a woman like that Gyps - she had three kids and they all had supposed things wrong with them - I only knew her for a short while and every conversation we seemed to have was about her kids ailments.

When the youngest was in hospital under going various tests she stayed with him. She claimed that she'd been  raped in the ladies toilets and that during the assault she'd had nails inserted inside her ............. the local paper had a field day but it was always reported as an 'alleged' attack. On further invesigation it was found that she'd made the whole thing up and had actually swallowed three nails

She was taken into some kind of 'mental health' care home .............her husband had the kids and they eventually split up! Never knew what became of her (this was years ago).

Its shocking suzi !!! I remember years ago watching a program on it, and one woman actually got her kids operated on, their lies were so good and convincing they could fool the doctors, well at least for a while.
