Is it definitely the last, no more going to be made?

TBH I had not looked into it, but 4 episodes would seem like it's closing off the remainder of the story.

Some of the previews were referring to tonight's episode as the "final" one in a way that implied it would be very final. I've been avoiding actual plot spoilers, but Kay did an interview with BBC Radio Manchester where he stated that there would definitely not be a 3rd series or even any Christmas specials. I was surprised he went as far as ruling out Christmas specials, but after seeing the last episode it makes sense that he's definitely "done".

That does read as "That's All Folks!"

Although he has left it open just in case he ever decides to do a one off - but thinking about it, I would probably prefer that to be all we get.

Me too.

Although he doesn't reference it, my immediate thought on reading Kay's comments was of "Faulty Towers": very much the benchmark for "quitting while you're ahead". (As an aside, and with the Victoria Wood tributes continuing on the BBC: I discovered recently that Wood cited "Faulty Towers" as influencing her decision to limit "Dinnerladies" to two series.)

Kay's "No Christmas special" comment seems particularly pointed: I think a lot of viewers (myself included) just assumed there would be one, given that John's "Christmas team" had been a significant sub-plot throughout the show...
