By the way, if you want to spot Michael Caine's very brief scene in Carve her Name with Pride it's towards the end of the film. Violette Szabo (Virginia McKenna) has been captured, is in a train with other prisoners when the train comes under attack from a plane. The train stops, partially in flames. Whilst the German soldiers are running down the train corridor past the cells to the outside. Violette Szabo says to the other women prisoners with her that here's their chance to escap. They crouch down, move to the corridor and she says that she thinks they can get out that way. Just then we see the male prisoners behind bars and one of them shouts out for water - that's Michael Caine. Violette Szabo hears his pleas and then decides to get him and the others water with the result that their hope of escape is dashed.

If you've never seen the film, it's worth watching, tragic but memorable and the scene with Virginia McKenna reciting the poem code "The Life that I Have" is justly famous (and really was used by Violette Szabo).

I have actually seen that film several times El but never notice Michael Caine’s brief appearance
