I've been writing to the existing accountants of a new small client to get professional clearance as I'm required to do. I've noticed that there's a glaring mistake in their last accounts and tax calculations which has meant that my client has underpaid tax. I've had to inform my client and have written to the accountants for their comments and what is to be done. It's as bad and elementary mistake as any I have ever seen and the accountants can have no justifiable excuse for not having picked up the mistake themselves.
