I had a letter from my brother today. He mentioned that it is looking unlikely that there will be anyone redeployed from his libraries to other council departments before the redundancies next March. He and everyone else now accept that redundancy is virtually inevitable.
And those are likely to be the lucky ones.
Those who remain employed will be required to attend meetings when the next round of cuts will be the focal point. The council seem to think that the council budget will be cut by a further 40% approximately in the following financial year.
I dread to think what sort of council services will be left in that council or if this will be the case across the country or just in that council but I feel sorry for those who live there.
