I just thought it was something to do with the 'tinkering' the other day, as it now shows the Alerts under each day, So all the non-dated ones will have gone and only ones under the NEW format will show, and the PMs are in a separate section right from the start.

Alerts are automatically deleted after one week so that would be why the older (non-dated) ones are no longer there. That doesn't apply to PMs which remain.
