Luckiy i found out a few months ago that loads of films are posted on youtube and have found loads of classics and obscure films that are not out on DVD and  i am working my way through them

I have seen The Solist and thought it was alright, i rated it 6/10

I saw Dead End years ago and thought it was an excellent film. I thought the cinematography by Greg Toland was in places exceptional, and I think can be regarded as a rehearsal for his work on Citizen Kane.

Alexander 2/10. Dramatised excerpts from Alexander the Great's life in the form of a history lesson. Apart from a couple of battle scenes and Angelina Jolie, a waste of time (and I hadn't realised that Alexander had an Irish accent).

Fur- An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus. 6/10. I guess this is likely to be the least accurate biopic ever made, but then the title does say it's imaginary. Influenced to some extent by Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast and also Alice in Wonderland, but no fairytale for children.

Die Hard 4 (2007) 6/10. More mayhem and slaughter but toned down from the earlier films to get a PG13 in the States.

Dual Alibi (1947) 4/10. Interesting idea having Herbert Lom as identical twin trapeze-artists who are conned out of a winning lottery ticket. Let down by a poor soundtrack and a low budget.

2 of the best low budget thrillers ever made. Oddy enough, both films exist in 2 versions. Duel was made for TV but was lengthened for cinema release. Invasion the shorter version omits the studio imposed opening and ending scenes where Miles is being examined in hospital and his story is verified. The shorter version ends with Miles on the highway :
"They're here...you're next...you're next!"
