Dame, I'll menttion this to Lori as a bug. I think she may be able to test it out. In the mean time it would seem that if you want to post an animated picture use IE rather then Chrome.
My VIP doesn't seem to be affecting IE when I log into that El, it works perfectly and I also get the collapse message in chrome trying to post a picture. I don't like or us IE, I just tried it to see if it worked
Thanks El
Dame, I think that's because Chrome is cloud based and is using the cloud as an extension of your computer drive. IE, Firefox and other browsers which are non-cloud based don't, so the VIP status wouldn't have the same effect.
Hi, all: Just wanted you to know that I tested all the browsers and submitted a bug on the gif-that-isn't-a-gif-in-chrome today. Sorry it took me so long--the testing takes time, which is at a premium at the moment.
Just so you know, it works in all browsers except Chrome, so you can use any other browser (Firefox, for instance, which I like better than IE, and it's my alternate testing browser).
Sprout posted:Hi Lori. I'm not having as many problems. Just the posting images (not doable in here. I have to go to IE) and the double spacing for me which makes it awful when we quote posts as we feel we need to because you lose the conversation.
I've just tried to post an image....Google images (robin redbreast) and right click and copied it. I right clicked and pasted it into this reply box and hit post reply. I get a quick look at the image then it disappears and I get the message.....You are not allowed to upload files. Windows 8.1 and Chrome on a laptop, but I know others are on Windows 7
Sprout, is this happening for ALL images, or just gifs?
Never mind. I just verified that it's for all images.

No need to be sorry...I'm sorry you don't like it. It's unlikely to change much, beyond the little tweaks that I'm doing and bugs that have been reported.

Hiya x.......I'm unable to post smileys on the latest version of IOS on my iPad.....The box just collapses when I click on it and if it does manage to stay up I press the required smiley and nothing happens. This may be just me, because Baz was able to post them last night, but just thought I'd mention it (laptop is ok)
El Loro posted:Dame, that must be caused by you being a VIP as otherwise it couldn't get attached. Chrome, being cloud based, must be treating the picture you copied as if it was stored on your device. Rather than pasting the picture direct in the Add Reply box, are you able to use the insert/edit image icon and paste the image address in the Source box in Chrome? If you are able to then that might get an animated picture rather than a still.
It happened to me as well, but I just thought things had changed and you had to be a VIP to post pictures

thanks Lori for looking into it for us... and it's all images for me on chrome.
Kaytee, are you using the URL, or one of the other codes? The URL is the only one that works here.

Kaytee, Chrome is the only browser that is a problem, as near as I can tell. If you use Firefox or IE or Safari, you should be ok.

Yeah a bit cryptic, now I think of it. Depends what she was trying to post and from where.

Might be a lengthy wait, she's in the CBB thread.

So can I. Drink in one hand and biscuit/sandwich in the other!
Lori has been changing the way that the return key works. Although return will still show a gap in the Add Reply box as if there's a new paragraph, when ithe reply is posted the gap won't appear on the posted reply. So the effect is as it used to be. If you do want to have a new paragraph then you'll need to press return twice.
As people were having problems with pasting youtube clips direct on to the Add Reply box, Social Strata has now changed it so that you need to post the link into the url box via inser/edit video. So as it used to be. If you do post the youtube link direct on to the Add Reply box it will just appear as a link to that video.

That's great. It's an auto action for me when doing a paragraph so even tho it may look like a double paragraph I don't need to go back and change it as it will appear correctly once posted.
Yay!

Thanks to El Loro for giving me a shove in the right direction.
There seems to be a bug with some Youtube clips in that if their address includes certain non-alpha/numerica characters such as an underscore(_) it does not get posted correctly via insert/edit video, For instance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlI_NQHZBTw just results in:
Until this is sorted out, if this happens to a clip you are trying to post the simpler option is to just post the link in the reply,
There is a way to embed the clip but it's more complicated. On the Youtube page with the clip click on Share (which is under the poster's name). Then from the menu which appears click on Embed which is shown above the row of sharing options. Copy the embed code which appears. It starts and ends with iframe.
Come back to the Add Reply box here. Click on Source code icon which is the last one. If there's any code shown in the box you then see, press return to get to a new line. Then paste the code into that box. Press OK to return to the normal Add Reply box
If you want to put some more text after the clip it's best to first click on the white space just to the bottom right corner of the clip and you should then see a blinking cursor. Then press return to get to a new line.
Although more longwinded it does work and is also the way you need to post any video clip on the web which is not a Youtube one.

No worries, Kaytee...I was able to entertain myself whilst waiting.
I thought that the smiley issue was on your iPad, right? Some people use chrome on their iPads/iPhones, so I wanted to make sure I was testing the same environment you were.
For me there's a different view between what I see on the iPad with Safari and what I see on my pc with Firefox. Before the update they came up with the same view, it was synchronisity but not now. I'm adjusting between both but still miss what we had before which worked, for me anyway

Yes, you won't see the right-hand column on the iPad, since it is removed for the smaller screen, to make it more readable on the smaller screen.
I know it's hard to adjust to change...especially if you didn't see anything wrong with the old view...
Last Post still not working. Sometimes it does (this thread), sometimes it doesn't (Sprooty's birthday thread).
New button still not working, shows new posts when there are none.
I know it works okay for other people though Lori, so if it's just me don't worry about it. If I want to join in a quick moving thread (Apprentice or something) I will fire up the laptop and see if that works.

Last post seems to be working OK for me, but NEW button is still a bit hit and miss.
Refresh still not working for me either.
Thanks, Rexi, for letting me know, and do let me know what happens for you when you use the laptop.
Fluffy, what do you mean by "refresh"?
You're reading a thread....you come to the last post that's currently on your screen.....you want to find out if there are new posts so you click the 'refresh' button next to the address panel (effectively Reload Page)
Once the page has reloaded you should still be looking at the last post you were at when you clicked REFRESH, but it's not always doing that - though I think it was for a while.
Hmmm. I'm not sure it should always be doing that...seems like it should take you to where you were when you completed the last "action" (e.g. post), but I'm not sure about that.
Lori posted:Hmmm. I'm not sure it should always be doing that...seems like it should take you to where you were when you completed the last "action" (e.g. post), but I'm not sure about that.
It always did that in version 1 and I expected it to continue working that way in version 2, but sometimes it doesn't.
Of course, now that I've mentioned it, it'll probably work perfectly from now on!
That'd be pretty great if you could get stuff to work just by mentioning it.
The bug with Youtube clips with an underscore in the address has been resolved
We seem to be having problems with posting you tube vids in the music thread again Windows 8.1 + Chrome.
It's not accepting all the vids that are posted ...only for a minute or so and then they disappear. also when it comes through there are no box options that come through with it to amend or delete
Sprout, that thread is showing 4 Youtube clips posted by you at around the time you posted your reply above. They do seem to work correctly.
Because of there being lots of clips on pages on that thread there is a time gap between going on that page and the clips appearing. Initially there is just a white space, then the clip appears. The slower the broadband connection, the longer it takes for the clips to appear. It's possible your connection was slower than normal which made it look as if the clips had vanished.
I can post one clip EL and then as soon as it's done I've got the next one lined up to go. I'll watch it and see what happens
*waits to see what happens*
I haven't tried to post anything more in the music thread Lori, but I've tried to post this in the 'stuff you want to say thread but don't want to make a thread' I've tried to post it both ways The picture and the video option using the URL and neither of them showed properly. I had to delete when they came up. Am I doing something wrong If I am can anyone say what it is please. Thanks in advance
https://www.skylinewebcams.com...osco-alta-badia.html
Chrome. 8.1
Sprout, I don't think you can embed your skylinewebcam. It's not a video clip or picure as such and the video option won't recognise html as of a video clip or a picture.
There doesn't seem to be any embed option either.
Sprout, some of the time lapse skylinewebcams clips are on Youtiube so if you find one you like you can post that as a normal clip:
Oh right. Thanks EL

oooh I like that the thread headings are bigger and bolder than they were. . if truth be told I'd not bothered visiting much as it wasn't easily clear what the threads were as nothing stood out so couldn't see quickly if there was anything new I wanted to peruse.. Yeah I know I could have taken time to look properly but am too lazy and prefer a quick skim to see or I move on.. Current format much better, thanks to whoever did that

Have the text sizes on the thread titles been changes since last night?
They are just as bold but seem smaller to me
I thought that too
I thought it was because I was on my laptop today and the font setting was smaller but yeah, they've shrunk and it's starting to look a bit messy/busy again .doesn't help that almost everything around a thread title is blue.. it starts to meld into one
the 'New' should be green I reckon to separate it from the thread title a bit more..
I think size is the same , but I'm guessing they have changed the font ? Oh and by the way ....could you please put a page turn alarm in the next update ....a very loud one ....so Scatterby can hear it
Oh dear, Scatts been sitting on the 'last page' again?
Just to let you know Lori that Last Unread Post still isn't working (ipad, safari, as before).
It only works properly about one time in every ten. I just clicked on the EU thread and it put me to the bottom of the thread and I had to scroll right up to where I had expected it to take me.
I was going to test it on my laptop ... but that seems a bit like homework to me
Don't worry about it, it seems that it is only me that is having this problem ... all it means is that I can't partake of fast moving threads anymore, I have morphed into a dipper inner and outer!

Not only you Rexi, I'm on IE 11on a PC and it isn't working for me. REFRESH still isn't working for me either. Similarly if I use the BACK button it doesn't take me to the right place. I've also noticed recently that the ALERT doesn't always take me to the post that was LIKED, close but not always exact.
