I wonder if the problem may be caused by the antivirus/firewall software used by people with their iPhones (assuming they are using such software). Baz's description of the problem has similarities with the random nature of the bug reported elsewhere with sometimes not being able to reply to quotes. I suspect that the quoting bug is due to antivirus scanning taking place at the same time as a page is loaded which causes the page not to be properly loaded.

This would explain why some people have these random problems and others don't. I don't have an iPhone so can't test this out.
