Former Member Not ID cards but the DNA database ... Has anyone heard of UK Biobank, operated in conjunction with the NHS? They're recruiting at this very moment by targetted mail for people to take part. They collect DNA samples as part of the long-term study and access your NHS medical records. If the government, as I suspect, have a long term goal of collecting DNA samples from every citizen then here's the start of future commercial exploitation of DNA I reckon. [ more ]
Mazzystar ID cards are going to be introduced stealthily,no doubt.I dont drive and I don't have a valid passport,but I'm increasingly asked for photo ID for anything from purchasing tickets to getting a document signed by my solicitor!I missed out on tickets for Reading Festival last year because I couldnt produce photo ID...FFS was only buying one ticket..was hardly going to make a fortune on chuffing ebay out of it : [ more ]

Raggy♥Doll ...it was a gift mind you, tis expensive. But worth it so far (it is wide wheeled so getting through some shop doors and aisles can be tight and wouldn't work on public transport). I have a ka and the back wheels just pop on & off (not the ka, the pram lol) and the base goes in the boot but no space for owt else. The car seat obv can clip on the base but mostly we use the dreami carrycot as she's only 8 wks old still, she sleeps in the carrycot for daytime naps too it can be used instead... [ more ]

BBBS we have one 360, one ps3 and now 3 wiis because they get played by far the most wii fit is good and the balence board that comes with it can be used with a number of other games too. the new motionplus controller add on launches soon as well and takes gaming to a whole new level with its 100% motion control giving a 1 to 1 movement, games like tiger woods 2010 look amazing to play because of this as does both ea and segas new tennis games. there is also a personal fitness trainer program... captain marbles I got a real surprise when I used the Wii Fit first time and it retty much said I was a blimp. I've taken a stone off since then and I also now, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, hold the world record distance on the Free Jogging. [ more ]

Aimee when i worked at a comp for 8 hrs everyday, i either had a headache of felt let going to sleep [ more ]
kattymieoww Now we had screen filters when I worked with comps and that's over 8 years ago.I also worked for the council so the unions were strong,if your job entailed lots of VDU comp time .you were allocated a ten minute break away from the screen,to get up and walk about etc. [ more ]

Lori THIS is why I now ride the bus to work. Two pet peeves: 1. Lack of an indicator (turn signal, we call it) 2. People who throw their cigarette butts out the window while driving. Do they not have an ashtray?? It's really better for EVERYone that I ride the bus. My husband honks at everybody--says it's the only way to train them. [ more ]
Comrade Ogilvy Yes, It's indicating on exitting a roundabout I meant on my initial rant. But I have another... Drivers who park on a busy street and just swing their door open without checking their mirror , before I drove I was a cyclist so I am wholly aware of how hazardous this is to vulnerable road users. Scotty The Hilltown area where some of the programme focused on used to be a community that looked after each other, in the old fashioned can I borrow a cup of sugar sense. Now it is drug ridden. My close friend from Edinburgh naively bought a pub there. It was her biggest mistake. It was robbed every week. Scotty I`ve cut and pasted my post from lil`s thread with additions. That was from my home town, although I live just outside it now. We recognised some of the people. My son and I were in tears. It used to be a vibrant working city but with the descimation of the factories and boatyards and apprenticeships( Thatcherism) its dying in a sense for the working class boy/girl/woman/man. mummymaz We put an ad in Loot - telling people what it was for, this lovely old couple said it reminded them of something they would have done when they were our age so let us have their old banger as they were getting a new one... we got lucky especially with the govmt offering 2k now for any old car!! Oh Blizzie the Italians are happy to take our old bangers and scrap them or do whatever with to be fair they'll be all painted up and looking a bit 'scally' so i dunno if they'd be able to sell them on?! serignhugrf I find anyone who need a tape measure, doesn't know what they are doing. I went to a wee old fashioned shop and she just looked at me, and brought out this hammock type thing and it fitted me perfectly. Ann Summers and M+S have both sold me bras that I never wore again because the size was way wrong. [ more ]
